I am not saying he is worth the contract or that I want him back next year.

Just that given the alternatives right now he should still probably be in the lineup.

He is not worse than Rowand though.  That's just funny.

So we should start Dellucci, even though he has been worse than Burrell, because he does not make 10 million like Burrell?

That's brilliant and is an excellent way to win games.

No, you start Dellucci because he's a better baseball player and can come through with the occasional clutch hit. I honestly think Bourn, Roberson, and Simon are better options at this point.

ice grillin you

delucci is absolutely a better option....but as pathetic as burrell is no way do you put a youngin like bourne or roberson in there right now

Why not? They're better in the field and on the base paths. They might even get a hit or a walk every once in a while. With Burrell you're either gonna get a pop up, strike out (most likely option), or a walk. His fielding is awful and he's slow as dirt.

mpmcgraw

If you think Roberson is better than Burrell you know absolutely nothing about baseball.

No offense

they probably dont even belong in the majors leagues at this point...to put them in the starting lineup of a team that is tied for the wild card lead with six games left would be titantically stupid...

Burrell doesn't belong in the majors at this point, he's a disgrace to baseball.

Your continued defense of Burrell is nauseating, mp.

Look, we are all rooting for him. we're forced to root for him because he's in that line-up. He shouldn't be in there. You can pull all the OPS numbers or comparisons to other players you want. But the simple fact is that he is not good. YOu can say Rowand sucks ir Dellucci sucks...whatever. But those guys bring a whole lot more to the team than Lifeless Patty.

mpmcgraw

Rowand does not bring more to this team than Burrell and it is pretty stupid to say that when all evidence says otherwise.

O right I forgot.  Grit and percieved heart>performance.

I wonder why no one wants to come here.

Rowand is better defensivley
Rowand in center means Victorino in right, which means Conine and Dellucci are not out of position
Tough to compare Rowand's and Burrell's considering the differences in what kinds of players they are, and where they each hit in the lineup. But simple things like runner on 3rd, less than 2 outs: 11ab's, 12bi's. .333 with the bases loaded. .328 close and late. .248 scoring position (okay thats subpar). Burrell's stats are all worse in all of the situations. Yes, he has a higher OBP. But he strikes out looking every other at bat and is a liability in the field. If Rowand were playing, it would be best to have a Conine/Dellucci platoon in left and start Rowand in center and Victorino in right. But all of that is irrelevent. Burrell is gone at the end of the year. Good riddance.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.
