I'm confused.  Are we comparing Burrell to Morgan Ensburg now?
I do not know of a Morgan Ensburg.  Do you mean Megan Ensburg?

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Morgan Ensberg
OBP     AVG
.396    .237

Just because a player walks a lot does not necessarily mean that he will/should have a higher AVG.

i agree, but when you say a player who swings at everything has a better average than a player who walks more, that kinda hurts your arguement, in my opinion.

1. If someone offered you a fat contract for whatever you did would you take it?

Of course.  And if I didn't produce at the same level or higher I would be fired.

2. If someone pegged expectations on you that you could not live up to at your job because you are just not good enough, would you blame yourself?

He kicked ass in HS, kicked ass in college, was a first round draft pick, kicked ass in the minor leagues and for his first 1.5 to 2 years, kicked ass in the majors.  I don't think anyone 'pegged' him with high expectations.  I think he set the bar himself with his play.

Quote3. Would you give that money back if you didnt meet said expectations?

No, but I wouldn't expect to have a job either.

Quote4. If they were going to transfer you to an office in another city, but you had an option to stay here where all your friends and family were would you stay?

Other than his g/f, what family does Burrell have in Philly?  And the dude's making $14mil a year.  He can afford new friends.

QuoteAll this and Burrell still has held his tongue and not lashed out at the fans. The guy is a good dude too, which most people dont know, or dont want to believe.

Lots of people who suck at their jobs are nice.  Because if they were dicks then they'd have absolutely nothing going for them.

They both arent very good at getting hits, but at least when they do make an out Burrell may at least drive the pitch count up.  I think that's pretty valuable, especially in the playoffs.

You may not agree, but that's where I was coming from there.

Fine, let's rework that with "your contract is guaranteed" included.

Why does not meeting high expectations make you bad at what you do?

If expectations are set and someone does not meet them cant it be said that the expectations were not realisitic?  This is not football or basketball.  High draft picks are not sure things.

There is a number that only like 30% of first round picks will ever have significant playing time in the majors.

Meanwhile, interspliced between 4 singles where 2 long fly outs and 1 pathetic strikeout. Who struckout? Why, Patrica Burrell, of course. 2-0 after our top 1st.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Maybe he does not like to do interviews because he is afraid he will lash out at the fans?

A few of them on DNL said Kruk was hard to deal with when he was a player too.

I thought I just saw Burrell get a hit with a man on, but I guess since you guys told me that never happens I was just seeing things.
