most of the crab in md comes from places other than the gulf....the oil spill will not effect the chesepeake at all...they will not over harvest it no matter what...

and the spill will have a negligible effect on crab prices in general....except...and this is a big except....places just decide to raise their prices to take advantage of the gulf spill whether they actually get their crabs from there or not

Prices will go up. If anyone is pressed for reasons why, the cost of transportation will probably come up. You can bet your ass that BP will raise their prices higher than normal this summer, and the other companies will too.
