The reason for needing a new dish for when DTV starts broadcasting HD locals is, they'll be doing it off of a new satellite that previous dishes can't receive. The new dish is a 5 LNB model, as opposed to the 3 LNB dishes that are currently the norm for receiving the current HD package and standard local channels.

The first forum has an HDTV forum with information specific for each market. If you're not aware of it, it's a great site with lots of information and high traffic. If you've got a question, 99% chance it's answered in good time.

comcast just added a new HD channel called UHD.  at first, i thought it was another cable network channel, ala TNT, but it's not.  the show that was on when i just checked it out?  Knight Rider baby.  good times.

Time Warner just added that same channel Feb 1.
