dunphy made the tournament after one year and is widely considered to be one of the best coaches out there. there is no reason to think he wont be successful. not chaney levels, but close.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

If you think he won't be quite as successful as John Cheney, you've already lost this argument.

Fun Fact: Fran Dunphy has won exactly one game in the NCAA tournament (1994)

Hall.  Of.  Fame.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

what a zesty coach. he and has his squad of 5 white boys couldnt down texas or pitt. what an awful coach.

why do you continue to argue with him?  it's obvious he doesn't have the first idea what a basketball even looks like

exactly...people went to temple because of john chaney...no one is going to temple for fran dunphy...so already they are behind the eight ball...is dunph a good coach sure...is he going to transform temple into anything close to where chaney had them...of course not
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

well obviously. but he can get close. essentially, instead of making the tourney every year, he will do it 7/10 times...something like that. dood already took a squad with 6 players and 2 part-timers that was picked 9th in the a10 to the tourney. he aint chaney, but he a good coach.

So, instead of 5 "almost 4th place", Fran will become the master of "almost 8th place".

Quote6-10 recruit chooses Villanova

By MIKE KERN
Philadelphia Daily News

kernm@phillynews.com
Maurice Sutton, a 6-10, 210-pound center-forward from Largo High (Upper Marlboro, Md.), is heading to Villanova.

"It came down to what God said, what God said goes," Sutton said this afternoon. "When I went to Villanova for a visit, it just felt right. I just felt comfortable with coach [Jay] Wright . . . Everything, his personality, just the way he came in, he's just so honest. I know his track record. There is something about him I really like. I can really say that I'm going to love having him coach me for how ever many years I'm there.

"I've seen what they have done in the tournament the last few years. I would love to be part of that."

Today is the last day of the national signing period.

One of the top unsigned players remaining in the class of 2008, he had narrowed his possibilities to Villanova, Seton Hall and Indiana.

[][]New Indiana coach Tom Crean reportedly offered Sutton a scholarship while he still was coaching at Marquette.

He obviously would have had a chance to play at Indiana a lot sooner, since the Hoosiers are in desperate need of fresh bodies. Seton Hall had been recruiting him longer than anyone.

Sutton, who averaged more than 20 points and 10 rebounds as a senior, needs to add some bulk to his slender frame, which could also make him a candidate to redshirt next season.

God actually went to Villanova, I heard, so that makes sense.
