Those people were idiots from the get go.

This coming from one of the main contributors to the "Fire Andy Reid" thread. ::)
If McNabb ain't runnin' he should get surgery. Yes, I know there are other problems, Lito sucks, no pass rush, running game, blah blah blah, but saying McNabb's inability to run ISN'T a problem is plain wrong. I've said it before, if McNabb continues to play like he's been playing the last few games (KC second half aside) the Eagles won't make the playoffs anyway, IMO. Therefore, he might as well go under the knife.

McNabb's capable of playing better ball than he has; therefore, gives the Eagles a chance to make the playoffs. Neither Detmer nor McMahon can.

Even in his current condition.

Well, that's where we disagree. There are other issues here. How much does McNabb playing affect his long-term help? Plus, there weren't that many people around, me included, who thought we'd make the playoffs with AJ Feeley at quarterback, so Detmer and McMahon might be able to.

i dont think its an issue at this point...he gets the surgery they dont win a game without him and obviosuly arent winning the superbowl...and if he doesnt get it he has already proven he cant play with it thus again they arent winning the superbowl...so im confused as to why there are two different camps on this issue...

I was a huge Burgess fan his whole career here but to say we miss him now when signed a huge deal isnt right.  Im sure the Eagles wanted him back, but not at that price.  Oakland over payed for him at the time, it looks like a good deal now though.

so everybody thought they overpaid him...but it looks like a good deal now.
in other words, they didn't overpay him.

i agree!   :yay  he has twice as many sacks as kearse, btw.
lemonade was a popular drink and it still is

Many folks have said that McNabb should go get the surgery because it would "only" be a 4-6 week absence despite the Eagles medical staff saying it would be possibly up to 12 weeks.

My opinion was that once you get cut on there are no guarantees especially with returning this season.

Well look at Dirk Johnson's case. He had the surgery before training camp, missed 6 weeks of action and here we are in week 9 and he is still being plagued by groin pain that is associated with that sports hernia.

If McNabb had the surgery, even after the Oakland game, there would be no guarantee that he'd be ready to go at all this year.

We're going to have to watch him struggle the rest of the year to warm up. We're not going to see him run. I know this has been said to the point of exhaustion, but Reid MUST get that running game going. We saw glimpses of it yesterday and the balanced attack worked (duh). And the defense needs to find their balls and play Eagle defense like they are known to.

And don't give me the "Booohoo we lost Simon & Burgess" crap. In 2003 we had Jim Flanigan, Frank Ferrara and Marco Coleman logging time at DE and no Jeremiah Trotter and they were still stopping teams.

Jim Johnson needs to adjust better and the uniy needs to step it the farg up.

I still say that this team wont go too deep into the playoffs with McNabb all gimpy. Bring in McMahon, not looking foward to it.
if you take advice from people in the 700 level, you'll find yourself sitting next to them -- Buddy Ryan

Compare McNabb with the rest of the starting QB's in the NFL.  Even with a hernia he is still better than the majority of them.   Koy nor McMahon are going to put up a 2:1 TD to INT ratio or complete for mroe than 60% of their passes.

But McMahon would run more, thereby padding our running stats. :paranoid
