if you people cannot see that the d-line is worse this year than it was last year, you're beyond hope.
i know some of you like to be overly optimistic & back the front office at all times but that's rifargingdiculous.

was the pass rush better last year???

why yes, it was.

Burgess had 2.5 sacks for the season, hunt. TWO AND A HALF.
Simon didn't decide that he was ready to play until they reduced his playing time and he got into shape in week 9.

Diomedes

if you can't see that Simon and Burgess weren't any better than Kalu and Patterson, you're beyond hope.

There, it's over.  Next stupid argument, please.

This is all McDougle's fault. How dare he get shot and totally farg up Reid's plan?!

The man. The myth. The legend.

He should know better than to go into the "contain" neighborhoods, where the cops don't go.  Except to score.

Just when I think you've turned into a humorless icehole, you pop out a comment like that.  Thanks, Chief.

Thomas = DE
Patterson & Simon = DT

Kalu and Burgess are similar players.

But hey, because Derrick Burgess has 7 sacks in Oakland he's an all-pro right?

He didn't do shtein until the playoffs. And only because he was moved to LDE and had Vick funnelled to him.

no kidding thomas is a de...and he wouldn't be on the field if they kept burgess.  and yes, scoff all you like but burgess has 7 sacks...tied for 4th in the nfl.  the entire eagles d-line has only 8.5.
i don't know why you feel obligated to keep making excuses for these personnel mistakes.  they could have kept burgess & simon...and the D would have been better for it.

I was a huge Burgess fan his whole career here but to say we miss him now when signed a huge deal isnt right.  Im sure the Eagles wanted him back, but not at that price.  Oakland over payed for him at the time, it looks like a good deal now though.

Burgess didnt do anything from His 1st game in year 2 until the NFC championship game last year.  Thats a span of over 30 games.  He had 6 sacks his rookie year, 3 coming in one game and 2 more his 2nd year.

Plus, hes a pure LDE...which Freak is too.

How dare you attempt to use common sense to deflate all of this Burgess blowing going on here! :-D

I decided the Eagles call fifty consecutive passing plays to open a game up is to get McNabb used to the pain.

That's bullcrap though, because I also decided that McNabb isn't really hurt. He's just making up excuses not to run the ball ever so he doesn't have to field questions about being a running QB.

Irregardless, how much is the alleged sports hernia really hurting him?  He hasn't lost much, if any, mobility/escapability.

This team needs balance, they need to wake up in the first quarter, and they need to play with urgency. Teams are not going to roll over for them anymore.

It really is extremely weird to watch though. The Eagles used to be such a great first half team, and they were so good at taking the visiting team out of games early. This year is the polar opposite. I can't believe what I'm seeing. Whats even worse is that we return pretty much every single starter from last year. Maybe that could be a problem.

The Eagles didn't add anyone who could have stepped in and made a difference this year. Don't get me wrong, team cohesion is great, but signing someone to give them a spark on both sides of the ball wouldn't have hurt. This team seems unmotivated and uninspired. Its extremely disheartening considering that this team, you would think, would be more hungry after they got a taste of the Super Bowl. Or maybe they are disheartened by the loss.

This team just doesn't remind me of the Eagles of old in terms of heart and effort. I still have hope for them to remember their roots though.

The next 3 games define the season. Should be an interesting month.
