Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports the Philadelphia Eagles have given indications that newly signed PK Jose Cortez will remain with the team even when injured PK David Akers returns to the team. The Eagles made the move because they believe that Cortez has a much stronger leg than PK Todd France, who struggled to get his kickoffs past the 10-yard line. By employing Cortez on kickoffs, the Eagles would make Akers' return from a torn hamstring less strenuous. 12 of Cortez's 34 kickoffs this season have gone into the end zone, and he has had five touchbacks. Nineteen of his kickoffs have been inside the 5-yard line, and all but six have been inside the 10.

It should be noted that he boomed a kickoff out of bounds after Dallas scored on Sunday giving SEA the ball at the 40.

As funny as it may sound....I think Dallas may go out and get France.  Would be funny to see him and Cortez on the sidelines in that MNF game....

Parcells won't pick up France--for the SAME REASON the Eagles let him go. Do you think Parcells would be happy for teams to set up shop on the 30-40 yardlines after a KO? France had 4 KOs that landed outside of the 10 IN ONE GAME--Reid and Co. are trying to improve that facet of the game--at least until Akers is healthy enough too do that, which might not be until December.
