I may put some money on Denver this week.  What's the line?

don't bet against your team, even if you win the money, it won't feel right

Much like farging your sister.

Or so I've heard....... :paranoid

oh no, nothing like that.  that feels right, if you close your eyes.
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Just want to say again...

Cortez sucks.

I haven't read the whole thread, because like a lot of posters, from the two pages I did read, you guys were of the same opinion as myself--at first. So, if I say anything that's been repeated, I apologize.

The reason Cortez was brought in was simple--KO DISTANCE.

In 7 games with the Cowboys, he's had 5 touchbacks, and he's had 5 KOs that have landed outside of the 10. His deepest was 6 yards deep against the Chargers.

In 3 games with the Eagles, France had 6 KOs OUTSIDE OF THE 10. His deepest was to KC's 3 yard line. In that same game, he had KOs to KC's 11, 14, 15 and 10. Against the Chargers, he had kicks that went to the 14 and 15--which means that the Chargers were getting the ball right around the 31--since they held Sproles to a 16.2 KOR average.

We'll have to suffer with Cortez FG kicking against the Broncos, but Akers is supposedly coming back against the Skins. And it looks like Reid will go with a KO specialist in Cortez to ease Akers back in.

I was hoping they might have Cortez for one or two games, cut him, and bring back Chad Lewis. But I take it that because they haven't signed him as of yet, he's not healthy enough to come back. Stephen Spack has been a nice story, but he's dropped some catchable passes in key situations.

At least they knew better than to put a pic this scrub up on PE.com while in his Cowgirl uni.

Don't worry, I am the only one who agreed with you on that, so its not being repetiitve. You should go back and read the thread to see some of the reactions on it. Its quite humorous.

PG is the only one who thinks signing Cortez isn't a big deal. Let me see if I can make her see the light:

1. Akers is hurt.
2. He's already tried to come back early this year from injury and farged himself up even worse.
3. Akers sucked donkey anu even before he got hurt.
4. France has filled in nicely. Hitting important FGs after a rough start.
5. Akers is coming back suspiciously early from this injury.
6. As such the likeliness of him reinjuring is high.
7. Cortez, who isn't exactly the strongest legged kicker in the league is being signed as our 'kickoff specialist' but if Akers goes down, he's all we've got.
8. To make matters worse, France has done well enough for it to be likely that someone will grab him off of waivers.

This may not be a big deal THIS SECOND, but the chances of it becoming a big deal are relatively high considering Akers' flakeyness and general suckitude this year. Scoff all you want, but this could be a disasterous move.

9. i could get a couple touchbacks kicking in that denver air...there should be no urgency whatsoever to get a kick off 'specialist' this week

As funny as it may sound....I think Dallas may go out and get France.  Would be funny to see him and Cortez on the sidelines in that MNF game....

They already picked up a scrub but that doesn't mean they still won't look at France.

QuoteEagles | Cortez Signed Because of Kickoff Abilities
Tue, 25 Oct 2005 18:28:11 -0700

Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports the Philadelphia Eagles have given indications that newly signed PK Jose Cortez will remain with the team even when injured PK David Akers returns to the team. The Eagles made the move because they believe that Cortez has a much stronger leg than PK Todd France, who struggled to get his kickoffs past the 10-yard line. By employing Cortez on kickoffs, the Eagles would make Akers' return from a torn hamstring less strenuous. 12 of Cortez's 34 kickoffs this season have gone into the end zone, and he has had five touchbacks. Nineteen of his kickoffs have been inside the 5-yard line, and all but six have been inside the 10.

And Parcells said "We'll bring Scott in and see how he does..." during his PC yesterday. :-D :-D

Yo Bill, take off the boxing gloves and take a look at the roster. Kid's name is Shaun.

PhillyPhreak54

I'm cool if Akers comes back.

But what was the hurry to sign Joser Cortez? What? Expected another team to sign him? Ha!

Should've kept France. Then when Akers comes back and shows he's straight you cut France and pick up some shteinhead like Cortez to do kickoffs.
