I think you stick with France.  He's a young guy with a pretty strong leg.  No veterans available at this time are going to be any better overall... But I can't say for sure.  Throw some names out there.

The other day Cataldi was screaming for Morten or Gary Anderson. Which shows how stupid he is. I'd love to hear him after one of those geezers can't kick a FG over 40 or can't kickoff.

Source: Akers' hamstring injury is worse than thought


Kicker David Akers' hamstring injury seems to be "more significant than originally thought," a source close to the situation told the Daily News yesterday.

Akers has been seen by two specialists for additional opinions, the source said. Coach Andy Reid confirmed that Akers was seeking an opinion yesterday.

There remains no concrete timetable for Akers' return, but the source said surgery does not seem to be necessary at this time. Akers probably won't be ready to kick in a game when the Eagles return from the bye Oct. 23 against San Diego, the source said.

That leaves Todd France in charge of the kicks. Reid said that despite France's early struggles - his 40-yard attempt was blocked and his first PAT went awry after a bad snap - he had no reservations about sending him onto the field for a 44-yard try at the start of the third quarter.

"He's a young guy, and you have to work through those things," Reid said. "He had a good look in his eye. His first kick was a little low, but after that, he did a pretty good job, I thought. I really wasn't worried. I figured you do it enough times, you can do what you did in practice, and he looked pretty good in practice."

I'm with the mouthbreather.  Derrik effing Burgess should have damn well taught us the folly of blowing a roster spot for an entire season on someone who *might* be back.

8-12 weeks guarantees him to be back for the playoffs. I say keep him on the roster. Kickers don't get rusty. He can walk right in and be fine.
