Well, I'll let you know what my opinion is even thought you probably don't give a... errr.. shtein....

The Eagles have a very good team. They have recently been a consistently good team. They lost a road game to another good team, Atlanta. They lost this game because of Atlanta's defense and running game. Also, McNabb was likely effected by his injury. His accuracy seemed a bit off to me.

The 49ers have a young team in the rebuilding stage. They have recently had a consistently mediocre team. They have also recently (the past two seasons) had a horrendous coaching staff. I do not say that they have had a bad team because they have many talented players on defense, but a very unproven offense. Last season was only as bad as it was because of injuries to multiple defensive starters. However, they have a new coaching staff now and the injured players have returned. They won thier game at home against one of the better offenses in the league, the Rams. The Rams also have an underrated defense, in my opinion. They won this game with defense, special teams, and trick plays. Also, Rattay led the offense well and didn't make any mistakes, except a questionable fumble on one of his two sacks. The game wouldn't have been so close if the 49ers had been able to run the ball and control the clock.

I do not disagree that the 49ers may have a hard time putting up over 20 points against a very good Eagles defense. However, I will disagree that the Eagles will have an easy time on offense. I think that many Eagles fans are underestimating the 49ers defense because of the statistics that the Rams put up against them. In response to this I must point out that the Rams held the ball for 40 minutes during the game and that Bulger passed the ball nearly 60 times. This was not the fault of the defense, but of the offense failing to control the clock. I believe that what it will come down to is how well the 49ers can run the football and control the clock. If the defense has to stay on the field like it did in the game against the Rams, they will likely get tired and give up points. If the 49ers can run the ball I think that they have a chance to win. If they can't and Rattay is forced to throw the ball with any regularity, I expect the Eagles pass rush to shut him down. I think that the 49ers can get pressure on McNabb as well. This will be made even easier by his reduced mobility because of his injury. If the 49ers do pressure McNabb, then I don't expect a good game offensively from the Eagles.

I cannot predict who will win. I can say that I don't think it will be a blowout for either team. I think the score may be closer to the Eagles last game.

I wish your team luck and hope to see both teams come out of this game without further injury. May the best team win!
Crabjuice...

This is actually a pretty well thought out, well articulated post.  I can respect your opinions.

I think you're out of your freakin' mind... but I respect your opinion.  ;D

I just don't see the Niners being able to move the ball with any type of sucess on our D.  I don't remember if it was you who said it but I seriously don't see any way possible for them to put up 20 points on us.  No way.  Trotter will be back in the middle, ready to rip someone's head off (and probably will) and I think he'll play a huge part in keeping the Niner running game in check.  Not to mention that we'll be bringing the pressure like nobody's biz.  We got to Vick with regularity and registered 3 sacks last week.  They'll get to Rattay even more than that.

All in all, I think the Eagles will be working with a short field more times than not, and that's where the points are gonna pile up.

The entire Eagles team is gonna come out looking to make a statement and prove that they're still the kings of the NFC, T.O. will come out looking to torch any and everyone in a red & gold uni and Trotter will be looking to kill ANYONE who gets in his way after Monday night's travesty.

Don't confuse us with the Rams, the Eagles are a totally different monster.  Eagles win. 34-10

You see? Why bother arguing with people so clearly out of touch with reality.
