Spadz gets in line to blow Manneans

Herremans is a uniquely talented guy, and he's also a product of offensive line coach Juan Castillo's diligence. Castillo took Herremans' technique and threw it out the window and made it start over.

pretty interesting.  Just goes to show they drafted him more on athletic ability than his particular football abilities in college.

The Eagles obviously liked Herremans (6-6, 321), for they traded three lesser draft picks to move up and draft him. But they didn't expect him to perform like a veteran in training camp.

"He's a big guy who's got a great reach, who is very smart -- putting into practice what you tell him almost immediately,"offensive coordinator Brad Childress said. "He doesn't usually make the same mistake twice. And he has taken every snap. Right now, he has been a very durable guy. We like what we see at this stage."

Herremans has the right temperament for an offensive lineman, as he declined to back down yet didn't snap out when veteran Hugh Douglas took a shot at him in a heated exchange.

I was reading a quote from Mike Lewis where he talked about the Hugh vs. Herremans "fight". Mike said that it was the slowest fight he's ever seen and that he couldn't stop laughing.

Another thing about Herremans...I read in one of the papers this weekend that he admitted that he got bored in I-AA games because he was so much better than the other guys.

I'm rooting for him big time. Tra's blood clots concern me. We need a viable backup LT. And don't forget that if Tra does rebound, he'll be the next one to come banging on the National Bank of Lurie with Drew in tow looking for ca$h.

That's why Herremans has a great opportunity right now. I'm actually kind of glad that they are throwing him into the fire right now instead of moving Artis outside and having Sciullo at LG.

If Herremans plays well this year when given the opportunity, this could be Tra's last year in PHL.

I thought the O-Linemen were the exception in the NFL. Maybe not to the Eagles, but I thought that their careers generally lasted longer and that the good ones are usually able to play until and sometimes beyond 35.
