Todd Herremans is impressing the Eagles with his long arms and feet. "He's a fourth-round pick and I told him he's been playing like a first-rounder," said defensive end N.D. Kalu. "He's doing a great job." Herremans is playing quite a bit as the No. 1 left tackle with Artis Hicks working at left guard. Tra Thomas is out another three weeks.

Todd Herremans is on his way to starting the preseason opener against Pittsburgh. He's been that impressive with his long arms and good feet and the strength to hold up against a power pass rush. The coaches are in love with the kid.

...from Spuds' article yesterday.  Unbelievable IMO that he can be good enough to start now.  Seems this kid was a big-time find from the Eagles' scouting department.

You've got to figure that after drafting 74 OL over the past 2 years, one or two would be real surprise finds for the team. Gotta love it.

In other news, it sounds like BYU kid Scott Young is probably the draft pick with the least chance to make the team.

Herremans was the pick the Eagles traded up to get, so they must have liked him a lot in that spot.  I believe Gil Brandt also had him as a sleeper.

this is true...one of the advantages of being a very good team year in and year out is that you can afford to stockpile at a certain position....and the eagles have positioned themselves nicely to allow themselves to do this
