Excalibur is a dump. Its billed as a family spot so a lot of kids and its pretty dirty.

hes never really talked about the hotel....but he says the sports book is the best place to watch games...especially for the drinks
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Describing the Excalibur as a dump would be a compliment. Las Vegas accomadations in the order from best to good: Wynn/Encore, Aria, Venetian/Palazzo. Bellagio/Planet Hollywood: two polar opposites, but the same caliber imo. Bellagio is stuffy and starting to feel old. PH is new and sexy, but owned by the evil empire(harrah's). Hard Rock is the best for picking up sluts, but is in a zesty location. The best sportsbook to watch games is probably The Venetian.

I can see the Exacal being good for watching games. I have never been in the book but I imagine that it doesn't get too crowded and since its a lower tier book they probably give you ten drink tickets if you lay down a $50 bet. But I would rank the Exacl only above The Quad (formerly known as The IP).

Las Vegas Hotel (home of the SuperContest) is the best book in town, IMO.

Aria is really nice. It sucks because it is set so far back from the strip and it has that annoying mall attached to it, but I will stay there on an upcoming trip. Probably not for this trip because rooms will be pricey.

The Trop in Vegas just sent me a 3 night comp that I could use for the Madness trip. They seem to have partnered up with the casino I go to in Louisiana.

I have been to The Trop once and didn't like the casino vibe and it is way too far down the strip for my liking. However if I cannot lock into The V or P or The Mirage I may take it

The trop had a full renovation 2 years ago. They are a losing casino, but have nice rooms. Free is pretty good.

Like you said, the location is not ideal.

phattymatty

what kind of books are you guys talking about for drinks? you can hold a used $2 horsie ticket and get free drinks the whole night if thats your thing.

and yeah i looked around and can get like 75 dollar rooms at the paris-ballys-planet hollywood places. on average. but if theres a few of us who cares, the hard rock has some of the newest, most badass rooms in vegas and its like 200 a night.

i don't spend much time in the room either but if it's several dudes i'd rather pay money to get a suite or some shtein. venetian would actually be ideal because some of those bitches sleep like 10. not bed wise but they are huge.

we scheduled a family vacation for Disney from 9/27 to 10/4.  i told my wife that i was all in on the rides the lines all the BS but that i was going to go to a bar and watch the eagles on 9/28.  i fully expect it to be a great home game because that's what happens anytime i am away for a game.

Not to hijack this thread but if you're staying at a Disney resort get the magic wristbands (they're free). You can go on your smart phone the night before and plan your fast passes for the good rides. It does it for your entire party.

yeah my wife is all over that shtein.  this trip is almost as much for her as it is for the kids.

I looked into moving to Orlando but my funhole baby's momma would never give up her child support payday and I ain't going without my daughter. We went second week in October...do yourself a favor and go to the food and wine festival at Epcot...worth the price of the trip all by itself. If you can find a way to ditch the kids it will be that much better. Where are you staying?

SunMo

we're staying at the Port Orleans

how were the lines down there for rides?  one of the reasons we picked that time of year is that it's slower according to the lady we booked it through.  another reason is the Halloween party, did you end up doing that?

Sunny... It's still hot as farg down here that time of year.   The parks are fun but the hotel's amenities are really important.   You couldn't have picked a nicer hotel, btw.   That joint is awesome.

SunMo

yeah, we took a bunch of time before we settled on that one.  we figured it would be hot but not as bad as summer time

Rome

It's not July or August but it's like the Shore during a heat wave.   There's a ton of things to do and everywhere you go has AC so it's not awful.  The pools are great there.  We stayed there last year and other than The Polynesian it's my favorite Disney property.

SunMo

sweet, we are looking forward to it.

SD did you get a meal plan when you went?  we got the normal Dining plan but i'm curious to hear from somebody who also got it

Port Orleans is a great choice, I was just talking to my co-worker and that is going to be the next place I stay. We stayed at the Caribbean which was also incredible. We didn't do the meal plan, it seemed a little on the expensive side but the family we went with did and they liked it (meals are expensive). You can do everything with your magic band, pay for meals, pay for stuff at the park (food, souveniers, drinks etc.), open up your hotel room door, use it as a fastpass. make restaurant reservations. Make sure you set up your app on your smartphone, it's Mydisneyexperience app. It's very convenient.

The one drawback we had with the magic band was the Halloween party wasn't put on it even though the desk at the Caribbean said we were good to go. When we got to the gate it didn't show up. A park employee let me go to the head of the ticket booth line. I showed them my receipt and payment so they printed us passes. It was a pain in the ass but whatever. My recommendation is to get paper copies and bring them with you. The Halloween party is pretty awesome. They have a bunch of trick or treat stations and they do a special light and firework show on the castle. Bring costumes because everyone will be in one. They do a special parade which is also really cool. It's a bit on the pricey side but worth it.

Weather was 82 and unreal our entire stay. My only regret is not staying longer.
