I forgot to add, that Star Wars trailer looked amazing.   Then again, so did the initial Abrams Star Trek trailer.

I showed my daughter the trailer last night, and she said, "you know, Dad, I never really got Star Wars."  Broke my heart more than a little, I must say...

meh i'm with your kid. i don't think they're anything special either.

The law says I have to feed, clothe and house her.

You?  You're farging dead to me.

The Batman vs Superman trailer is out, if anyone needs a laugh.

sunny will egg your house

I know nothing about superheros but how could superman not murder batman in less than two minutes

I asked this same question to my comc book nerd buddy and he said Batman's intelligence and the way he figures problems out is what evens the odds.

I watched the trailer...movie is going to be a train wreck. The last Superman blew hard and anyone playing Batman after Bale -especially so soon- is going to be a letdown

What about the last Superman blew hard?  It had its flaws, sure, but in general it was really good.

The real question is what about it was good.

Every other scene was a building falling. The movie put Michael Bay to shame in that regards. Other than that I don't remember why I disliked it so much, it was very forgettable. I wouldn't watch it again.

My kid was a big fan of Mall Cop when it came out 6 years ago. So, he was looking forward to the sequel, which we went to see yesterday. I mean, we weren't expecting it to vie for awards, but it was a hideous train wreck of a movie. Stupid funny would have been okay, but this was just stupid.

He walked out of there pretty dejected about it. Haha...it reminded me of when I incredulously walked out of the last bullshtein Indiana Jones installment.

Really bad, though. Nothing redeeming about it in any way.

Yeah that falls into the category of Hollywood making a sequel just to make one...which they do too often.

The first one was alright in a goofball way but I won't watch the sequel...even though it was shot in Vegas

i thought man of steel was a pretty good movie. i loved that we got to see a gen zod that didnt look like a 70 yr old balding white guy in an mc hammer outfit.
If guns kill people then spoons made Rosie O'Donnel a fatass.

Superman is just a camp body.  Calm the farg down, Sunny!

Eagles_Legendz

Was not a fan of Man of Steel.  It felt like it should've been good and it looked nice but there was nothing there IMO.

Zanshin

Man of Steel was okay at very best. It was pretty boring, and there were quite a few things that didn't make sense. Other than the recent Batman movies, DC hasn't come close to figuring out how to manage its properties like Marvel. The new Superman vs. Batman movie looks pretty weak. DC is all about the dark filters and zero sense of humor. You're super serious, DC, we get it.

Eagles_Legendz

You can be serious when you've built the stakes organically and people care about the characters.  DC seems to just want to make things grim for the sake of being grim.

Zanshin

That's my problem with the DC movies, overall. It feels forced. Let the audience come to the conclusion, don't beat them over the head with it. Also, I read awhile ago, that the directors were forbidden from putting any humor in the scripts, which I just think is stupid. I get that they were a little scared from the Green Lantern garbage, but come on. It doesn't need to be campy, but a little variation in tone would help move things along.

smeags

i agree with your points but i still found man of steel to be entertaining.

I didn't care enough about it to retain all of the points, but I remember thinking that at the time, so I'll stand by it. One thing that stands out is the death scene with his adopted father-- there were like a billion ways he could have saved him without serious repercussions.

Rome

QuoteMan Of Steel was too long with too much CGI bullshtein.   Very disappointing.   The actors weren't bad, though.  Costner, Amy Adams & Diane Lane were actually pretty good with the howler of a script they were given to work with.  The guy who played Superman was awful.  Elliott Stabler was pretty good in a minor supporting role.  I liked Russell Crowe as Jor-El but even he was too serious.   I think that was the biggest problem I had with it... the whole tone of the movie was too serious.

I'll go with a C+ and not really recommend it.

This...

His father was the biggest problem in the movie. Superman is supposed to embody all the great American Values while being completely invulnerable, yet here's his dad going "no, be a coward and don't ever do anything useful."

The man. The myth. The legend.
