Anyone seen a good movie lately?

I hated the book, especially the "twist" at the end.  Just awful, selfish, & vain characters who both deserved to die screaming.

I have to say that Affleck was perfectly cast, though.    He's a zesty actor but he nailed the selfish & vain husband to a tee.  Pike wasn't great but she's also supposed to be playing a loathsome character without any redeeming features.  Tough part to play someone like that.  NPH was great, though.

Bottom line is it was a movie taken from horrible source material.  It was well written but the story itself is just nauseating.

Loved the score, though.

I'll give it a C+ and agree it's not one of Fincher's better offerings.

this was just a warmup for batman anyway, he couldn't waste much time preparing for it.


i watched movies on my flights last week

x-men:  days of future past - probably the best x-men movie i've seen, i'm not a huge x-men fan to begin with but i like First Class and this follow up was really good.

edge of tomorrow - ground hogs day meets an alien invasion movie.  it was a lot better than i expected, fun movie

i mean he wasnt hacking it up or anything he was being tyler farging perry...i felt like i was watching him on the regis and kelly show....he didnt seem like a character to me...it was just him...it was bad casting much more than it was bad acting

like you said carrie coon was fabulous...i dont think it would have made the movie into zodiac or anything but more carrie coons would have made for a much better film

Agree with that.  TP was the best part of the movie. 

It's been a weak-ish year in movies.  Edge of Tomorrow is probably my favorite this year and that's not saying much.

boyhood so far is easily the best, though the really good movies dont start coming out until december. there's a reason they released gone girl now....its not winning a single award, but left alone in a bit of dead period it can make a good deal of money.

Birdman's reviews are through the roof but I can't get a handle on that movie even after seeing the trailer four or five times.
