Saw Shawshank Redemption for the god knows what time again this weekend.  Damn what a great movie.  How Forrest Gump destroyed it at the Academy Awards back in 95 is beyond me.  10+++/10

Watched Shutter Island last weekend on netflix.  Very impressed.   9/10.  Fine job by DiCaprio.

hunger games - completely average in every way....the premise was pretty interesting but the execution was overly long....there was no investment required in the movie...from the first 15 minutes all i wanted to see was the last 15 minutes to see how they would wrap up a foregone conclusion

5/10

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Thresh and Rue are clearly supposed to be black, but you can't expect bigoted nimrods to read.

Rome

Just when I thought I couldn't be less interested in this retardedly hyped-up movie, I read this.

Thanks.

General_Failure

Because those characters are black, huh?

The man. The myth. The legend.

i love when people have to tell you how aggressively uninterested they are in something

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

You really are an exceptional person and we're all thankful to have you here to guide us toward becoming better people.

In other news, Hunger Games was a well-made movie. Maybe a little bit too much of the shaky camera effect, but it makes sense with the source material. Jennifer Lawrence... can get it.

We waited a little while for the crowds to die down, buI can't say that I hated it. Some of the combat scenes were like cinéma vérité after too many double cappuccinos. Usually that's a way for a director to hide poor fight choreography, which is possible in this case.

Still, I liked it a little more than I thought I would. The wife has read the whole series, she's interested to see how they play out the remaining pieces.

Don Ho

Watched "To Kill A Mockingbird" last night for the first time in years.  My son had just read it last quarter so the timing was perfect.  What a great movie.  Gregory Peck at his finest (portrayal of Captain Ahab close second).  Pretty cool seeing a young Robert Duvall.

Munson

I had completely forgotten about Duvall being Boo Radley til I watched it the other night

Peck was pretty damn good in The Omen as well.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Don Ho

Totally forgot about The Omen.  Great movie.  Peck was also excellent in The Boys from Brazil where he played Josef Mengele.  He's been in some pretty damn good movies.
