wanting to do something big seems like a good reason to spend a hundred million bucks

QuoteJason Stark: Yasmani Tomas bidding in furious progress this week. Exec of one club says to bet the mortgage on the Phillies:"Wanting to do something big"

Does anyone actually care if they blow a bunch of money on this future bust (if the Phillies get him) or not? Are millions of Phillie fans waiting with bated breath for word of their Cuban savior?

I like how this is how the Phillies organization tries to amp up its fans. How about amping us up with competent general managing?

PhillyPhreak54

Competent ownership really.

They're the ones who won't fire the clowns who keep Amaro in power

im against signing him but no I really don't care either way...if they do get him I will take much pleasure in laughing at the Phillies fans who are get real excited about it

you get really excited about a basketball team that will win 3 games this year

tomas could be a middle of the order power bat....hes 24....this is pretty much the only possibly exciting thing they might have.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Are there Phillies fans who are really excited about this? The average fan has no farging clue they're trying to get this guy, the hardcore fans I've seen don't seem too excited. I say farg it, get the guy, at least it gives me a reason to be interested next season. Smart move would be sign the guy, then unload the rest of the veterans for prospects. Next thing you know you have young players to watch and not a bunch of dinosaurs with bad contracts/knees.

ice grillin you

all real Phillies fans know about the guy and the homer contingent of them which is fairly large will def be excited....shtein the lil guy will be excited and hes not even a phillie homer

you have to be a true hater to not be somewhere between exciting and very intrigued

nobody thinks tomas is going to be great...there's no way of knowing...but it will super interesting to see what he can do.

I have zero faith that a guy roob signs will be good...but even with that if the team was an OF away or even if they had a great foundation and were adding to it id be excited...but nothing about a cuban who neither the yankees or red sox are interested in excites me at this point in time

the red sox have 10000 outfielders and the yankees dont have a spot for him, either

youre looking at this like a pessimistic hater. the phillies are a joke run by a moron....but maybe just maybe this kid can play. its the 1 thing to look forward because lord knows the next 5 years wont be fun.

sorry buddy....I don't give a shtein about this guy and ill be shocked if hes any good....Phillies are dead to me until they put some talent in their system and revamp their entire player evaluation department
