Which one is the most harmful to the environment? That's the one I want.

Any of them will be good for that, really. All electronics are chock full of rare metals that have to be blasted out of the ground in poor countries.

Nice...now whats the least environmentally friendly way to get rid of my old laptop? I'm thinking remove the hard drive and throw it in a landfill.

I can't see videos in this site on my iPhone any longer. I used to be able to but maybe the last week nada.

I've got the 5s if it matters

I'm running XP on my main laptop.  What should I do?

Upgrade the OS for less than $100 or get a new computer. XP is going to be a huge target for malware if you're using it to connect to the intenet. I saw that Microsoft was offering $100 off a new computer if you currently have an XP computer, but I don't know the details.

Get a copy of windows 7, a new laptop, a chromebook, tablet, or nothing.

So Windows 7 is the ticket...not 8.1 or whatever the newest one is?

I have both. I have 8.1 on a touch screen, and it's okay for that. Very different, though, and until you get used to it, it's a pain in the ass. Go to a store to check it out before deciding.

So is XP just going to stop working? I had the pop up the other day and thought it was weird that they'd send that.

My newest laptop died awhile ago and I never replaced the hard drive that fried. I just mothballed it because I was too lazy to get it fixed and I have been using my old laptop which is a IBM ThinkPad with XP...

Diomedes

Yeah, I've got a Thinkpad too..I love it and I paid a lot of farging money for it once upon a time.  Battery is dead so it only works when plugged in, and sometimes a fan...oh christ, no one cares.

Anyway, Microsoft is no longer going to publish updates for XP.  That means after 1/8, any security problem, bug, glitch, etc. will not be fixed by the mothership, exposing your machine to all manner of shtein.

I'll probably just buy a copy of Windows 7.  A hundred bucks won't kill me.  I sure as farg am not going over to Apple.

Same deal with mine - battery is dead so I keep it plugged in.

I guess I will replace my toshibas hard drive
