Why?  Plug works.  Don't need a laptop in a ditch.

fwiw, I just received a marketing email from TigerDirect, and they're selling both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 for less than $70.

i bought a 1TB external yesterday from staples thats like the size of a credit card.

Zanshin

Yeah, I have one of those. They're awesome. They have multiple TB in the same form factor, but they're pricey. The 1TB is a cheap backup option.

Best Buy has a deal where if you bring in an old Windows XP computer, they'll give you a $25 gift card and a voucher for $75 off a new computer. I did it just to get rid of my 12 year old laptop that was gathering dust. If someone can use the voucher this week, let me know.

Diomedes

We ordered 7 from TigerDirect yesterday morning.

Installed 7.  They shipped the 64bit version instead of the 32, but it appears to be working alright.  One bug I can't figure:  why is my screen so squashed?  No matter what resolution I change to, everything looks squashed/stretched.  Any suggestions?

Probably the wrong video driver, or driver for the monitor/screen.

Diomedes

Ah...we're into territory that's just beyond my user chops.  Should it be a simple thing to just download the video driver for my model from Lenovo?  Install and happily ever after?

Anyone know of a good/free program I can download to recover deleted pics and videos from a micro sd card?  So far I'm only finding a bunch that say they're free and will scan the card and show you your missing pics, but then want to charge $30-40 for the recovery.  Farg that.

Sgt PSN

That's one of the ones that gives you the free download of their software and lets you run a scan, but then charges you to actually recover the files.  Tried that particular one yesterday and they want $40.

why dont you use one of your guns

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.
