what a fascinating last inning. sucks that they got ripped by a bad call but it happens. 4 or 5 years ago they had a game lost in florida but the ump blew a fair/foul call down the 3B line in B9. went on to win in extras. what comes around goes around.

anyway brilliant moves by manuel all across this game. runs for choke with someone who cant steal, hoping his slew of .200 hitters will come through (delmon young, kevin frandsen, erik kratz. WHAT ARE YOU PINCH RUNNING FOR. WHO IS GETTING A HIT THERE). then in the 9th after a homer and a sharp infield single he has revere bunt so the pitcher is in scoring position for cesar hernandez? yes that happened.

of course the pitcher gets caught on 2nd (technically safe but caught nonetheless). cesar rips a double (i like him), they walk hof brown (his first since april 30!) to get to......michael martinez, who is not even a good AA hitter. end game.

id be mad if they had even an outside shot of making the playoffs. instead i was entertained and excited by 2 really good swings from galvis and hernandez.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Lol at Hamels having "one pitch".

He has 1 dominant pitch, which is his change up.  His fastball is good but it's not really blowing anyone away at 92-93 mph....but it's got enough zip to be pretty effective because of his changeup.  His curve is also good but it doesn't make very many people look silly swinging at it either and I don't think he throws it very often.  So I think that might be what igy was getting at...he's got a couple of good pitches and 1 great pitch.

His change up is his dominant out pitch, but his cutter and fastball are still effective pitches that he can use to get outs, whether they be K's or groundouts. The curve ball works best when he waits until the later innings to start using it.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

1000% chance he thought mike mike was comin through

i honestly have no earthly idea why he is still in the organization. because he can play multiple positions? there are like 1000 guys who can give you a few innings at SS and make a go of it in the outfield.

no one will bother talking about but that 8th/9th inning is why even them winning in 2008 with charlie was so amazing. he is so dumb its beyond comprehension.

charlie when he first started didnt even know what a double switch was...it was painful

they got lucky in 2008 that everything in the playoffs was just so. games went fairly normally. he never had to get creative or think outside the box, no long extra inning game, no slugfest where the starter gets shelled. it all fit the script.

i have no idea if sandberg will be good...if hes handpicked by rube that aint a good start...but anything is better than this doofus

I did not believe Minor League Mike was coming through. He was overmatched and I imagined Frankie Rodriguez thinking he could underhand the ball up there and get the guy out.

The fact that Ruben and his minions can think he serves a purpose shows their ineptitude at their jobs. When they say "let's call Martinez up" it translates into "we are playing with a 24 man roster".

They should call someone else up. Anyone but motherfarging Mike Mike

ha....thats why i was laughing cause of your extreme hatred of mm...its pretty nuts to think that they had to resort to him to win the game for them

You know I imagined him getting a hit and them showing a pic of good old Amaro high fiving his minions with a smug grin saying " I told you so"
