igy - if you want to just rant about the contract, fine.  I think there are far worse ones on this roster unfortunately, but I'm not a fan of dropping 150 mil on any pitcher.  I took issue to you linking your comment that said "hes an ok pitcher".  He has been consistently very good the last years and awful this year.

well of course its all about the contract....you think anyone would care about him if he had jimmys deal....and i contend from day one of his deal to the last day he will have been an ok pitcher.....very bad to very good at times....in others words an ok guy

I mean that's just empirically untrue.  It's not even an opinion, it's categorically wrong to say he has been an ok pitcher.

I won't argue about Halladay who is arguably the best pitcher of his generation, but Hamels was undeniably great from 2010-2012.  Cumulative stats he's easily been a top 10 starting pitcher in that period.  It's not an opinion, it's a fact, and I consider that to qualify as great.  Not "ok".

Lol at Hamels having "one pitch".

He has 1 dominant pitch, which is his change up.  His fastball is good but it's not really blowing anyone away at 92-93 mph....but it's got enough zip to be pretty effective because of his changeup.  His curve is also good but it doesn't make very many people look silly swinging at it either and I don't think he throws it very often.  So I think that might be what igy was getting at...he's got a couple of good pitches and 1 great pitch.

ice grillin you

yeah when his change is on its one of the better pitches in all of the majors....im just not giving 150 mil to a guy who relies on one pitch especially when that one pitch is a change...theres to much margin for error in his game....plus he loves giving up home runs...often at the worst times

i wont deny hes had some good years and numbers but again im more of an eye test guy where as legendz and a lot of younger people are numbers guys...ive seen heidi blink first or last way to many times to think hes a special pitcher...its one of the reasons he doesnt win a ton of games

since the deal hes a .500 pitcher with a 4.00 era thats ok...not special...if i was running the team i would have tried and dealt him at the 11 deadline...i said at the time i completely understand how that would have been a nearly impossible move pr wise and you cant blame them for not...but he wasnt worth that money and the team wasnt going to win for the majority if not all of the length of the contract

How does he compare to Matt Cain getting $127m and sucking this year?

ice grillin you

cain really only got 107 mil...the last year of his deal has a relatively small buyout....he will only be 32 when it ends and is on a team who has already won a world series during the deal....the cain deal made way more sense

as for hamels vs cain the player...i think they are about equal...neither is special...although cains overall stuff is much better than heidis

i make the mistake of listening to the phils broadcast for 30 seconds and all i hear is wheels screaming about the brewers right fielder playing too deep while the choke shift is on....he playing deep dumb ass cause they have a short right fielder...then he pompously says "gotta let each manager run his own team"

excluding brown (maybe) they dont have 1 player in their lineup who would start for another team

even though hes terrible there is no reason for them not to call up ruf and play him in lf. what purpose does delmon young serve. he cant hit, he cant walk, he cant field, he cant throw. and not even a decade ago he was the 1st pick out of the draft out of high school. HE LOOKS LIKE HES 45.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

ice grillin you

i dont know who he is but the brewers 3rd base coach is a dope

now i agree with that....no matter how bad he would be out there i could care less if ruff replaced delmon...like you said why the hell not

delmon young was a 100% roob still thinking this team would contend move

Amazing. Unfargingbelievable ahhhhhhhh

Kendrick called out at second on a pickoff. But the farging Ss dropped it!

Then Hernandez doubles.

Game should be farging tied!

Now Mike mike is hitting because he ran for Choke
