Anyone seen a good movie lately?

The Star Trek movie was well done. One of the few movies I've seen where the 3D actually enhances the experience. Solid popcorn flick.

The IMAX was great.  3D usually gives me blood clots in the brain but this one was different.  I actually saw it again yesterday but with my family this time (in std. def.) and they both loved it.  I'm not surprised my kid liked it because she's a geek like her Dad, but my wife usually loathes science fiction, and she thought it was great.  She liked it better than Iron Man 3 which really surprises me.

BTW: During the second show there was an audience-wide gasp when Harrison's true identity was revealed.   Everyone at the first showing already knew it ahead of time.

Iron Man 3 was as advertised, but the Star Trek movie was head and shoulders more entertaining both visually and in terms of story, I thought. I'm not a fanboy of either franchise, so I think that's a pretty objective assessment.

mud - until a slightly preposterous ending an excellent coming of age movie about two kids who befriend a fugitive on the run on the beautiful arkansas riverside.....kind of like if stand by me had a baby with winters bone....mickonohay being mickonohay but the two kids in it were outstanding...they should have bright futures ahead of them...overall a really good movie....skip the sci fi and superheros and go see this...

7.5/10

saw 'This is 40' over the weekend.  as usual, about 40 minutes too long and that wife is one of the most annoying and despicable movie characters of all time.  Albert Brooks and Rudd were funny, and the daughters went back and forth from good to awful the entire movie.

overall when it was all said and done it had a few laughs but was a meh in the end

Caught Star Trek in 3D IMAX. Bout what I expected. Couple of decent twists, had a lot in common with the first generation of movies.

I for one can't wait to see how the guy who directed Suckerpunch, 300, and Dawn of the Dead is going to handle Superman. And the writer of the Blade and Ghost Rider movies, and Call of Duty games.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Rome

He also did Watchmen which is the best comic book adaptation ever made.  Superheroes are usually Hoydas whereas the characters in Watchmen were all too flawed & generally awful people in general.  I like that.

Watchmen was okay, but butchered to fit the time allowed for a single movie. 300 and Suckerpunch were hot garbage, though.
