I think you can all assume that Obama will come out swinging in debate number two. I also think that debates mean precisely dick unless you promise to devour children and buttfarg grandmothers on live tv. Also, letting Romney lay out his plan while lying about what his plan actually means is probably a great strategy. The media should eat that shtein up.

My take:

Romney definitely seemed better prepared - and he should be, as he's had four years to prepare for this moment, and more practice in the primaries..  He also was fighting for his campaign.

Obama seemed almost disinterested at times.  He allowed Romney to gain the control of the tone of the debate, and never quite recovered.  Not sure if it's lack of preparation, or just was caught off-guard by Romney's assertiveness.  Either way, Romney definitely gained momentum tonight - the question is how much, and how long it lasts.

Romney was lying through his teeth pretty much the entire time, but was damn convincing doing it.


That used to work in the past....because of the current nature of almost real-time fact checking, the aftermath of the debate will end up being more about what they lied about then how the performed.

You guys assume most people give a shtein about facts and plans.

It's who stands out the most when it's time to punch a hole in the ballot. I wish it wasn't that way...but it is. Most of the people on the fence aren't on the fence because they don't care... They just don't have time. So when they finally log on to their Facebook pages and are overwhelmed with how many likes the picture of whatever candidate their friends posted about...and remember who sounded smarter and looked better...that's who they will be voting for. That's the majority of voters. Not the small percentage of educated voters.
