Good on them.  In your shoes, I'd write and (snail) mail a thank-you letter to them after it's all said and done.

speaking of rentals...i rented a car to take my road trip yesterday to Blacksburg, VA.  i specifically reserved an economy car because i wanted something small with good gas mileage because i wanted to spend less on gas than i would taking my truck.

i get there yesterday and all they have is a 2011 Mitsubishi endeavor which gets just about the same highway mileage as my truck.  and then, to top it off, as i get down the road i realize that there is not ipod plug in anywhere.  no aux jack, no usb jack, nothing.  how does a 2011 model anything not at least have an auxilary jack.  so, it was 7 hours one way of flipping radio stations to find something to keep me from blowing my brains out.

Ha. I had one of those. A 2004. I heard they basically made no changes since then.

SunMo

sounds about right...it definitely had an early 2000s feel to it.

I am glad you got your iPad back, DH. I was going to say that in all the times I have rented a car I have never opened the glove box. Although I expected them to say that it wasn't found because the Hertz manager or someone cleaning the car when it was turned in took off with it.

except the only problem with that is I am back in NY..

what you said about it still being in the car is making me feel a bit better though

edit: just thought of something - what if someone took it, factory reset it and made it their own? would it still be trackable with my phone?

just powering it on in any way triggers the "find my ipad" feature... and since you registered it with apple, once someone factory resets, it apple can find where it was used by the serial number.

glad you found it

once its back in my hands (tomorrow morning), I am definitely calling hertz corporate with both managers names and will give them each a verbal blowie. I'm quick to complain when I feel like big business is shafting me; it should apply the other way as well - especially when it would have been so easy for any of their guys to just take it and walk.

Google forced me to agree so I bought this instead:

DH

very true...i bought one of those pink ones a few years back for beast cancer and the tie was terrible. then I got one as a gift for something which I'll also never wear.

so, to answer your question, I have two I can sell you

i did habitat for humanity today...we got two entire walls up on a house in NE DC...it was pretty rad.

I did that when I worked for the Nets - our whole staff (no players) spent the day in the pouring rain hammering shtein, putting walls up, etc...NBATV arrived as we were finishing and requested Kidd and Carter come out from practice for a photo op next to the house - then they ran a segment about the team and how its players are so community-conscious.

Bull. shtein.

Went up to Total Wine and Dan Akroid was there selling his vodka and autographing bottles. Really wanted to meet him but the line to do so was ridiculous

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds
