So I just got a slip in the mail saying I've been selected for jury duty. I used to be exempt because I was active duty military. Since this is my first time, what should I expect?

In Baltimore City, no free coffee.  They do pay you something like $15.  There are "quiet" rooms to wait in with tables and semi-comfortable chairs. 

I almost got picked for a cop killer trial once, was very disappointed.  That would have been fun.

I like jury duty.  Trial before a jury of peers is as central to civilized life as voting. 

Bring a book.  And dress well enough to hit on women.  They can't go anywhere, so improve your chances by showering and wearing deoderent.

This is actually a myth.  I've known probably a dozen or so Marines who have been selected for jury duty over the years and like 2 or 3 of them actually had to serve.  1 dude was on a murder case where the trial took about 3 weeks.

Then why is there a block on the slip that says "Exempt because active duty military out of state"
