Or this...

QuoteGov. Rick Perry, a devout Christian, is calling on all Texans to pray for rain as most of the state battles an extreme and exceptional drought.

Perry has proclaimed a three-day period, from Friday to Sunday, as Days of Prayer for Rain in the state.

"I urge Texans of all faiths and traditions to offer prayers on that day for the healing of our land, the rebuilding of our communities and the restoration of our normal way of life," he wrote in the proclamation.

An elected official in a secular political office uses his position to encourage his constituents to pray for God to provide rain.

Yeah, not crazy at all.  Perfectly sound and reasonable.

Oh no, it's utterly worse.  He's not crazy, he's playing to the crowd.  He's a scary dude, much more Dead Zone than Ron Paul.

To be fair, the US would probably be better off without Texas.

It would be better off without religious fanatics but in the case of Texas that's probably redundant.

General_Failure

We'd be better off without fanatics of any kind, but the religious ones do seem to get the most headlines for being violent.

The man. The myth. The legend.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Perry: Stimulus Spending = TREASON

Wow.

That's funny, considering most economists think gov't spending right now is important, despite the short term deficit increase.

Quote''We need to have profound compassion for the people who are dealing with the very real issue of sexual dysfunction in their life, and sexual identity disorders. This is a very real issue. It's not funny, it's sad. Any of you who have members of your family that are in the lifestyle-we have a member of our family that is. This is not funny. It's a very sad life. It's part of Satan, I think, to say this is gay. It's anything but gay. Because if you're involved in the gay and lesbian lifestyle, it's bondage. Personal bondage, personal despair and personal enslavement. And that's why this is so dangerous.''

How can anyone of good conscience vote for someone like that?

these are dangerous times because these social terrorists like perry and bachman can slide thru without being challenged on their views due to the shadow of the economy being all encompassing....social issues will get pushed to the background during the election season but then will come back to rear their mean and ugly head when one of these wackos gets into office as it will be the centerpiece of their presidency

3 main righties are bachmann, perry and romney. out of necessity all 3 will bloody each other up on social shtein, with the first thing being attacks on romney because he believes in talking golden scrolls.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

The good news is he's considering running for POTUS so New Jersey has that going for it at least.

He's not going to run. And it's a good thing, his schtick is starting to be more obvious to the rest of the country.
