if you seriously think that lost is as good as the wire, youre hopless

even lindelof and cuse would tell you how off base you are
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

'Good' is a useless term.

Do I think any show on network TV could do what The Wire or the Sopranos or even Mad Men has done in terms of the pure show quality/production?  Probably not.

I can say I got more into Lost and was more interested/entertained by it than any show I've ever seen, which has to be considered when discussing favorites, no?

MDS

if its your favorite, thats cool. nobody will kill you or care.

but the question was best. and lost is a 3rd grade play compared to the wire.

and i liked lost, i saw every ep. but it was extremely flawed and they admitted to stalling, going off in silly directions, etc.

because it was a cash cow for abc and they had to do anything possible to extend it as long as they could

compare that to simon who had to write a manifesto to hbo just to get his pilot aired and then more or less got cancelled after almost every season...he stayed hungry till the end and had a message that he thought to be uber important and that message was going to be put forth in the highest quality tv had ever seen so matter what it took

I actually thought one of the strengths of Lost versus other network tv shows was that they announced an end date half way through the show.  The beginning of season 3 is when they stalled for various reasons, but there was always a sense of momentum from the end of season 3 on because you knew it was building to a conclusion instead of other shows which just proceed indefinitely.

I've been DVR'ing the episodes on DirecTV's 101 each Sunday night and prior to starting they have a little 30 second or so clip with Simon talking about various things.

This past week he talked about how he met with the Mayor prior to him turning in the pilot to HBO and said "this is a dark show and if you don't want it in Baltimore, let me know". So the Mayor says no problem.

After season one the Mayor was pissed off and actually withdrew the filming permits for season two. He then had a 45-minute conversation with him saying he would move the show. But the mayor asked if it would still be about Baltimore, to which Simon replied yes. So once the Mayor realized that Philly or Wilmington would get the cash and the series would still be about Baltimore, he relented and hung up in Simon's face.

heard that story before, its a good one

also noticed that the dude from the "thanks for being you" scene early in season 4 is later getting high with sherrod in the car before sherrod all bugged out tries to beat up namond outside cuttys spot.

Wilmington actually would have been a good spot to shoot based on architecture of the buildings for season 2, mainly a dying port, and the zesty houses around it

Port of Wilmington...good times.

Almost a s fancy as Marcus Hook woo hoo

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds
