With the salary Curtis is slated to get, he's as good as gone imo. So, Avant stays the 3rd wr, which is 1 injury away from starter. I think he's very valuable to the team.

Peppers may command a deal that averages about $14 million a year and includes guarantees of up to $40 million.

The McCaskey family has approved about $30 million for free agency, so the Bears would have to get creative to land Peppers or free up some more money.

After Peppers, Aaron Kampman is regarded as the second-best defensive end available, followed by Kyle Vanden Bosch. But one league source told me that Kampman may be headed to Philadelphia.

I would almost prefer to see the Eagles sign Kampman over Peppers.  He would be considerably cheaper and is supposedly healthy.

Yeah that is why I said supposedly.  I am not a huge fan of the idea of the Eagles signing Pepper, that being said if they did I am sure I would be fairly happy.

Eagles fullback Leonard Weaver said Thursday afternoon he was getting "closer" to a contract extension, but he wasn't able to sign before becoming a restricted free agent.

To retain his rights, the Eagles placed a second-round tender on him.  A long-term deal could still come shortly.

Other players to get a second-round tender included wideout Jason Avant, guard/center Nick Cole, and linebacker Akeem Jordan.  Ellis Hobbs surprisingly led the way with a first-round tender, showing how thin the cornerback market is.

Linebackers Omar Gaither (fifth-round) and Chris Gocung (third-round) got original round tenders, as did guard Max Jean-Gilles.

Punter Sav Rocca can be all yours for a bag of footballs.  (Or the Eagles have the right to match any offer he signs.)

According to GCobb, Weaver will sign a 3 year deal today. He also says Peppers is visiting Chicago today, but if he doesnt sign, he's visiting Philly after.
