Mikell making it is a joke.

Whiff on tackles?
Drop crucial INTs?

Make the Pro-Bowl!

I think I'm going to watch. I believe I'll be more entertained by this Pop Warner game than any other Pro Bowl.

The man. The myth. The legend.

I'm happy to report that I was just named as a tackle to the pro bowl.

See, if it was in Hawaii you could have stayed with me.

since they are inviting players who were like 6th, 7th and 8th in the voting, they might as well just call it the "getting to know obscure players around the league" bowl.  just scrub the pro bowl and instead, make up 2 teams with random dudes buried on everyone's depth chart.  players who play more than X amount of downs during the year are not eligible.

i think i'd actually prefer to watch that instead of a pro bowl.  at least with the scrubs, they'd be out there working hard trying to impress the chick working the nacho stand.

Ugh, the Pro Bowl was enough of a joke before they moved it, now it's just silly.

One question I have is: if a player bows out due to injury, or in this year's case playing in the SB, does it still count as a PB selection on their record? I.E., elected to X consecutive Pro Bowls?
Three things can happen when you throw the ball, and two of them are bad.

QB Eagles

Maybe they should call it the UFL Pro Bowl... all these guys would be stars there.

yes, because they were voted to the pro bowl.  at the same time, quinton mikell can now use this upcoming pro bowl appearance in future contract negotiations as well to try and squeeze out a few more dollars even though he didn't originally get voted in, and was only sent as a replacement player.

If they'd just get rid of the damn game all together, the honor would be less of a sham. It's getting to the point where in contract negotiations, it should count against you if you didn't make the PB, even if you replaced your team's starting punter in week 11.

Oops, looks like I gotta change my plane tickets to MIA. Thanks though, I'll take you up on it when the NFL puts a team in Honolulu.

it has no bearing whatsoever in contract negotiations....you think fans know its a sham but players agents and front office personel dont

what you might see it effect tho is the bonuses and clauses in future contracts....you may not see players getting a 100k bonus for making the probowl anymore

clauses and bonus have no bearing whatsoever in how good a player is...nor does the probowl...thus neither have a bearing in contract negotiations

the worst player in the league can get a meaningless clause in their contract and the best player in the league can get them

years and upfront money is what its about and the pro bowl doesnt effect that in the least and never really has had meaning outside of public posturing...thus the probowl has no effect in new contract negotiations...again not that it ever has

for the most part, i agree.  but where i disagree is if it's a relatively unknown player who made the pro bowl during a contract year.  granted, the production is what got him there in the first place, and that's what is going to get the most money in contract negotiations, but just having "pro bowl" on your resume is probably worth a few extra bucks in contract negotiations.  it might not be worth a lot, but i think it's worth a little something.

and i'm sure that it's a card that any player/agent will try and play.  whether or not it gets them anywhere is another story.
