ok, I guess I will see what I've got when I get it.

Sus, I might hit you up for some help if need be, ok?

Well, considering that I've never done any of the dual OS things, I'm not sure I'll be of much help. But I can give plenty of moral support.   :sly

I've dual-booted a Mac without significant difficulty for the past 3 years. You'll be just fine.

The biggest pain is transferring files from the Mac partition to the Windows partition (vice versa is easy). Hopefully you can minimize the amount you do that. Otherwise, things just kinda work.

The dual-booted version of Windows runs identically to how it would on a Dell. The most complex software works fine. When you start getting into Parallels, things get more iffy. I don't use it and have limited experience with it.

mussa is a mac guy i believe so he'd probably be able to give you some pointers.

This is my understanding, as well. Most things work with Parallels, but not all. The best option, if you can put up with it, is the dual boot.

Ideally she can migrate everything she does over to Mac. The Windows partition will hopefully just be there as insurance.

I only use Windows for games (ironic since there are still some people who think Macs are toys). It's exceedingly rare these days that I need to do something else I can only do in Windows.

well, he just told me to go ahead and tell him exactly what I want and he'll get it for me. Money no object, so not to worry.

Do I go for the 15.4 Macbook Pro or stick with the 13.3 Macbook?

ha!

Well, I get headaches easily....so I requested the 15.4" as I think it might be easier on my eyes/head...as I work 10 hours a day on it.

I'm so excited. I requested the XP/Parallels combo and Office. He's ordering it tonight and it should ship tomorrow.

one question....I use Outlook for all of my email...is it hard to transfer that to Entourage in Mac Office?

ok, another question....since I am getting it from MacMall, I am assuming I will have to do the install of Parallels/Windows/Office? It won't come preinstalled? How hard is that?

Muss, you might be making a trip to visit sooner rather than later. LOL

You should have gotten the boot camp setup. Usually when you order it with a specific config, it comes that way, already setup. Even if it didn't, it's ridiculously easy to setup, as you will find most things in the Mac world are.

Here is the mail bit: http://www.riches.com.au/articles/export-outlook-entourage.htm

why should i have gotten boot camp set up if i got Parallels? I had the option of BootCamp, Parallels or the vm fusion. I chose Parallels because after reading a ton online, it seemed that was the best choice.
