Quotegiving Obama this award is an absolute joke, especially given the situation in Afghanistan.

What does Afghanistan have to do with it? Remember, this is the legitimate conflict, the one with UN backing. You might have room to argue after Obama charts the new course but right now I don't get it.

I do agree that Obama following Bush probably had some (but not all) to do with it. The rest of the world had to hold their nose for the same eight years that we did. Or I did. Who can blame them for being relieved we finally have someone with intelligence back in the white house again?

QuoteIt's ironic too because you were probably one of those loony liberals that was rooting for Iraq to get worst and worst and for us to lose because it would prove your point.

Only after the first couple months or so after it became obvious that we were wasting our time there and were only there to save face for the Bush administration. So naturally I cared more for the Iraqi people than for our occupation. That doesn't mean I supported scum like al-Zarqawi, though. I was glad to see him go. Saddam Hussein though? Not really.

Anyhow, a better question would be whether I would have rejoiced if Bush failed in an effort to bring the olympics to Houston, for example. I don't think so. It's hard to say though because of course Bush travelling to Europe would only have hurt his cause.

So you were a fan of Sadaam???
You must have missed his years and years of oppression... the mass graves... gassing the Kurds.. et al.

As for Afghanistan... sorry I don't look to the UN to tell me if a war is justified.  The UN has lost any remaining relevance it gave a forum (which wasn't much anyway) to two of the biggest scumbags walking around planet earth.

The organization that promised "never again" when Rwanda happened, sat by as another genocide was occurring in Sudan.

Not being glad to see Hussein go = Being a fan of Hussein?

Gassing 4000 Kurdish civilians with our chemical weapons was unthinkable whereas killing 6000 Iraqi civilians with our conventional munitions in Fallujah was necessary?

The United Nations has no presence in Sudan and whatever atrocities occured there were their fault?

The United Nations has zero relevance which has nothing to due with (begining with Reagan) our failure to pay our dues and our consistent abuse of using the veto power?

Thanks for the reminder of how much the Bush years SUCKED when we had people running the country who actually believed this shtein.

Susquehanna - I'm sure these Chinese guys were exactly who Steele had in mind. It mustn't have been politics, spite or classlessness. Steele has been a longtime champion for these Chinese guys. Nearly every day he goes on news shows and that's about all he talks about are these Chinese guys. A simple congratulations would have been too easy. Besides, the Repubelicans already had their good-cop white folks out their playing their role.

You're still defending the award??  Give it up. Even most liberals pundits aren't defending it.

Yea, the Congolese guy. That's probably the one Steele had in mind.

Defending the award? I was surprised as anyone. I probably wouldn't have voted for Obama to win it but that doesn't mean I believe he's somehow at fault for recieving it. I'm glad he won it though, because I've enjoyed very much watching all the right wingers make further asses of themselves.

No right winger, on tv, radio, etc, makes as big of an ass of themselves as you do daily on this board.
