In case you miss Phreaks in depth TC reports, some guy on the EMB wrote this up about this mornings session:

QuoteObservations from Tuesday Morning (8/4) Practice:

Full squad workout this morning in pads. Trevor Laws, Victor Abiamiri, Macho Harris, and Matt Schoebel did not participate and worked on light conditioning drills. Jason Peters missed practice and was not on the field. Brian Westbrook and Shawn Andrews were also not present. Stacey Andrews was in full pads and participated except for during the live session.

The 1st team offensive line during live contact was Herremans, Jean Gilles, Jackson, Cole, Justice.

The team worked on a lot of goal line and short yard situations today. The 2nd team defense stopped 3 straight run plays on the goal line against the 1st team offense. When the 1st team defense got a chance, Akeem Jordan made a nice diving stop on a pass intended for Lorenzo Booker. Booker was then gang tackled at the goal line by Patterson and Bunkley. On 3rd down, Kolb found Booker on an out pattern and he beat Joe Mays for the touchdown.

The team worked on a play where the QB faked the QB sneak, took half a step forward, turned around and threw a pass behind the backfield to the RB out wide. Interesting play. Something to keep an eye on.

They also ran a variation of Flip 90. McNabb would fake the handoff to Weaver and kick it out to McCoy. As Lesean ran out wide, he'd stop and throw a deep ball to Curtis. Good idea but poor execution. The first time McCoy broke left and McNabb turned right. It's the only mistake I've seen out of him from a knowledge standpoint. He knew it right away and Marty pulled him aside for a brief talk. The next two times they ran the play, McCoy's throws were short and wobbly.

However despite that play, in my opinion the star of the day was once again Lesean McCoy. This kid has picked up the offense and seems really confident out there. Beat Jack Ikegounu on an inside slant during 1 on 1 drills. During the live session with no tackling, McCoy was the star. Without tackling, the 1st team offense took on the first team defense for the first time in camp. McCoy had a hard run to the right for 4 yards. Then took one up the middle and had a nice spin move gaining 6-7. Followed that play up with a play action bomb from McNabb for 40 yards down the left sideline. After that play, McCoy was tended to by Rick Burkholder. He momentarily left practice but returned and finished out the morning.

I am really impressed with Leonard Weaver and think he will add another element to this offense. He had several hard runs up the middle during practice and caught one ball from McNabb out of the backfield. He also blocked everything in sight. Absolutely blew up Joe Mays on a running play. It was the first play of the live session and I was watching Mays to see how he did. Weaver sealed him off and really pushed him back. The good news for Mays fans is that the very next play he broke through the line and tackled McCoy for a 2 yard loss.

Mays had an up and down practice. He is clearly vocal on the field and is trying to take command of the defense. Looked really bad on the Weaver block but bounced right back on the next play. Got beat in coverage by Lorenzo Booker. Seems a little slow sideline to sideline. Omar Gaither was in with the 1st team on their nickel package. Right now I see Mays as a very good LB against the run but there is still a long way to go in camp.

In one on one drills, Brandon Gibson beat Jack Ikegounu deep for a TD. Kevin Curtis beat Sheldon Brown on an inside slant. In the shocker of the day, Reggie Brown had a great catch on a deep ball over Asante Samuel. While I'm not the biggest supporter of Reggie, he is busting his butt trying to make this team. And of course, on the next play Brown has a bad drop after beating Joselio Hanson.

Mike Patterson did a really nice job blowing up a screen pass. Got into the backfield and the play had no chance.

Cornelius Ingram had another nice practice. Had a tip toe catch in the corner of the endzone from McNabb for a TD and had a beautiful catch over the middle where Donovan really forced it and Ingram snatched it out of the air. Was called for another false start while lining up with the 2nd team.

Donovan McNabb had another good practice. Had one badly underthrown deep ball to Desean Jackson and one low throw to Celek, but everything else looked solid. Not much to worry about with #5 at this point.

Kevin Kolb and AJ Feeley both looked terrible again. I want to like Kolb but he has not impressed at all this week. He holds the ball WAY too long and underthrew a couple of passes. In drills, Kolb throws a great ball hitting his receivers in stride. But once they line up against the opposing defense, he seems to struggle. Maybe it's just a bad couple days of practice. The offensive line also has a ton of false start penalties with him under center.

I like Danny Amendola a lot. Runs crisp routes and catches anything thrown in his direction. Also always runs hard. He's not going to make the team but hopefully they can keep him for the practice squad.

Akers looked good today. Didn't miss and hit one from 57 yards.

There was a scout in attendance from the CFL. Likely scouting the guys that will be part of the 1st cuts.

No sign of Jeremy Maclin. He is supposed to arrive this afternoon.

Notes from Live Session:

1st and 10: McNabb past to McCoy in the flat for 4 yards
2nd and 6: McCoy run up the middle for 5 yards
3rd and 1: Omar Gaither sack

1st and 10: Kolb to Reggie Brown on a quick slant for 9 yards (Asante)
2nd and 1: Eckle no gain up the middle (Patterson)
3rd and 1: Kolb pass to Hank Baskett over the middle broken up by a diving Akeem Jordan

1st and 10: Bryan Smith perfectly reads a reverse and makes a tackle in the backfield for a big loss.

1st and 10: Brandon Gibson catch over the middle. Shakes a defender and gains 15.

1st and 10: McNabb pass low to Jackson. Incomplete.
2nd and 10: McCoy runs up the middle. Big fight breaks out between Winston Justice, Omar Gaither, and Hughes. Eventually broken up. Most fire I've ever seen from Justice.
3rd and 8: Donovan McNabb deep pass to Kevin Curtis down the middle of the field complete for a 70 yard touchdown

1st and 10: Lorenzo Booker run for 7 yards to the left. Nice move
2nd and 3: Shotgun hand off to Booker. Demps comes up and makes a great tackle. No gain.
3rd and 3: Kolb pass to Reggie Brown broken up by Omar Gaither.

1st and 10: Feeley to Eugene Bright incomplete - really bad drop over the middle
2nd and 10: Feeley scrambles for a 8 yard gain.
3rd and 2: Feeley sacked by Trae Williams. End of practice.

i think this one's more to the point

i can only assume that the designed play was a pass to weaver 3 yds behind the los.

it looks like McDermott has Gocong playing alot of DE in camp--which makes some good sense

and reports this morning that Demps is not looking good in coverage at all

SunMo

did they sign Runyan to play RT yet?  it's obvious Shawn Andrews doesn't want to play football anymore

Eagles defensive end Juqua Parker was arrested for possession of marijuana by the Allentown police last night at around midnight.

He writes like my wife talks. He throws random half-truths and misconceptions against a wall and ends up with whoever's listening being confused and annoyed.
