What some Americans might have had to resort to if we had another eight years of a Repubelican in the white house...

Not really, but I can see where your horribly twisted slant on the issue would make you feel that way.
I believe I've passed the age of consciousness and righteous rage
I found that just surviving was a noble fight.
I once believed in causes too,
I had my pointless point of view,
And life went on no matter who was wrong or right.

Is anyone else enjoying the fact that Nancy Pelosi could lose her speakership over the fact that she is blatantly lying about what she did and did not know of the CIA's use of enhanced interrogation tactics?

Removing her from that particular position of power, even if she doesn't ever lose her elected seat, would make me very happy. She looks like Juno from Beetlejuice.

I didn't think we were allowed to discuss it here.  It reflects poorly on the Democratic party.

Answer - yes.  farg that bitch.
The drawback to marital longevity is your wife always knows when you're really interested in her and when you're just trying to bury it.

I was wondering if anyone was going to bring that subject up here. Only took three days.

Obama probably dislikes Pelosi just as much as any of the Repubs in Congress do.  I look forward to reading some scintillating defense of her.

rjs246

I read an article today (defending her) saying that she legally could not speak about the classified meetings and therefore has done nothing wrong. In the mean time the article also pointed out that she never submitted an objection of any type and that other members of congress have spoken candidly about the meetings while she is the only one who was actually abiding by the law...

In other words the dude was making a huge stretch to defend her on questionable 'legal' grounds and not doing a very convincing job of it because he used wishy washy evidence and finger pointing. it was sort of sad actually.

We'll see.

I myself think torture is awesome and I'm glad that attention has been shifted away from the actual criminals to this trivial subject.

So nobody liked my cow-milking video? Fine, be that way.

The most interesting article I've read on Obama's current war on terror strategy and why the public is more prone to accept it.

I am disappointed at the lack of movement by Obama on reversing some of the domestic spying policies of the Bush years. But it appears as though he is taking the best of the Bush plans to 'keep us safe', repackaging it so that it is more legally legit, and spitting it back out without major adjustments. If it works and is ultimately legitimized over the next 4-8 years, it could be a brilliant play.

Having said that, the author brings up a very salient point to counter his own overall argument:
QuoteThe Obama policies also reflect the fact that the Bush policies were woven into the fabric of the national security architecture in ways that were hard if not impossible to unravel. The new administration would not face the difficulties of closing GTMO if GTMO had not been used as a detention facility in the first place. It would have an easier time prosecuting some terrorist suspects in civilian courts had information about their crimes not been extracted through coercion (assuming, that is, that it would have nabbed the suspects in the absence of the information gained through coercion). And so on. It is impossible to know how an Obama (or any other) administration would have dealt with the manifold terrorist challenges beginning on 9/11, or how the world might look different today if the Bush administration had made different decisions. But no doubt some of the Obama agreement with Bush policies reflects the fact that Obama inherited challenges that were created by decisions with which he would not have agreed.
