I have an idea.  Let's do a photo op for Air Force One in Manhattan.  The sight of a low-flying passenger plane in that area shouldn't be a big deal.

Obama has to fire someone over that idiocy.

ATV

I've got an even better idea. Instead of broadcasting Obama's first 100 days press conference (because that's not news, after all), Fox "News" could just put some talking heads on air to talk about how horrible a job Obama is doing as evidenced by Air Force One having flown above Manhattan...

I think we can all agree that every station should air Obama every time he's ever on the air.  Ever.

Even Lifetime? Can't we wait until he beats the shtein out of his wife first?

I love how quick the Obama haters jump when he does something stupid. They seem to forget that the last president they supported broke laws here, internationally and basically took a shtein on the constitution. These are the same people who would rather watch American Idol over a presidential speech, and why FOX decided to drop the speech for American Idol. HA, how ironic can it get.

I dislike the politics of both Bush and Obama and will be watching "Lie to Me" tomorrow night, but not American Idol.

You're not a bright guy, so I understand the need to compartmentalize everyone into little boxes.  No hard feelings.

It's all tit-for-tat horseshtein that American Politics thrives on and that the public now feels compelled to mirror. For the past 5 years Republicans have had to endure unending criticism of their elected leader. Bush was cartoonishly unqualified to lead, stepped on the Constitution (in ways which Obama has largely not rectified, by the way) and destroyed our foreign policy so that we were essentially a world-wide joke. There was nothing they could do about it because the criticism was completely correct and the more time passes the more evidence we have that the criticism may not have even been strong enough.

They've been waiting a long time to have someone on the other side of the aisle to beat up (remember, the Democrats have had no 'face of the party' since Gore's defeat). So here we have a case where 3 months into a Presidency the Right is claiming that the sky is falling despite no evidence to prove this to be the case. It's just a case of pent up frustration, more psychological than policy/fact-based. If 3 YEARS into his Presidency he has failed to execute on education/infrastructure/energy or has somehow severely damaged the moral/economic fiber of the nation while I'll line up to trash the guy too. But 3 months in? Come on.

RJS pretty much said exactly how I feel except it sounds way better than anything I can begin to write.

FF, I think putting people into categories as simple as Right and Left is ridiculous as well, but you have to admit the US has been quite divided since the Bush Era came into it's brightest moments. I have beliefs both liberal and conservative so sitting back and looking at the extremes battling it out has been rather sickening.

I know you're serious. That doesn't mean that you're not also trying to start trouble, not to mention laughably wrong.

bull.  there are plenty of good conservative beliefs.  the problem with it though is that many of the conservative voices pimping those beliefs are your rush limbaugh and ann couture type extremists that take things way too far.  and it's the same on the other side of the fence too.......people to the far left taking good ideas and going to obnoxious levels with them.

i'm fairly conservative (most people would say conservative, i actually think i'm just being reasonable) when it comes to television and radio broadcasting.  i think the quality of what the fcc allows to be broadcasted on regular network television is pathetic.  i don't care about loose regs when it comes to cable channels because people pay to recieve them.  but when it comes to nbc, cbs, fox, abc, etc, i think it's terrible that there are very few shows on those networks in the evenings that i would feel comfortable letting my kids watch.  granted, there's not much that's too far over the top but the language is 10x worse on evening sitcoms now than it was when i was a kid and the content isn't much better either.

don't get me wrong, i have no problem actually parenting my kids and making sure they don't take things they see on tv too seriously.  but at the same time, i really don't think that a parent should have to worry about what kids are watching on regular networks at say 6 or 7pm.   there was a time when cable channels was where the adults would watch shows that contained more adult content.  but now, the only way i can get a "kid friendly" channel is for me to pay for it and i think that's total bull.

same thing goes with radio too.  i won't even turn the radio on when i've got my kids in the car.  especially if it's during the morning when  you've got the "wanna be howard stern morning shock jocks" on the air talking about whores, drugs, blah blah blah.  don't get me wrong, i have no problem with whores and drugs.  i just don't need or want my 9 yr old daughter hearing about that crap yet.  i would prefer that she not have to deal with that type of stuff until she's in or near her teens.  my 12 yr old daughter on the other hand, is allowed to watch and listen to some things that the younger one can't.

and believe me, this isn't a censorship rant because i'm against censorship.  and this isn't some rant about me wanting my kids to live in a bubble and not be exposed to the real world.  my kids learn about the real world every day and they'll continue to do so.  but there are also things that they don't need to be exposed to just yet either, and a lot of those things are being broadcast into my home without cable/satellite tv and i don't think that is fair to a lot of parents.

this isn't a huge deal for me because my kids don't watch a lot of television anyway.  i'd much rather spend the time together playing board games or doing something constructive with them.  but it really does annoy the crap out of me though, that there's almost no weeknight television programming that i feel is age appropriate for any kid under the age of maybe 15.  i'm not saying it all needs to go away.  but it would be nice if the different networks offered some variety.
