Well, DMF, I don't know.  All I do know is I had to listen to Merrill on a walkman when I was in Shamokin.
Anyone but Reid.

I don't see how that matters one usually plays on CBS and one usually plays on Fox.  I do know in this area if the Ravens and Steelers play at the same time there have been several instances where the Ravens were on TV and the Steelers weren't.  Most Steelers fans I know don't care though it just gives them an excuse to go to the bar.  Anyway I know nothing I have only lived in this area my entire life minus the last 3-1/2 years.

this is directly from my man:

on the tv games:

usually like once a year the steelers game isn't on because we're geographically deemed a "Baltimore" market by the NFL because it's the closest NFL city.  People go insane when that happens.  the entire harrisburg area is actually "considered" a baltimore market by the NFL but that's definitely in name only.  probably only like 10% ravens fans around here.  But since eagles are on Fox and pitts/balt are on CBS there's never really a conflict.  only time you really see it is if the steelers play an NFC team in Pitts, the game is on Fox.  If the Eagles have a game on Fox at the same time, the Eagles will be shown because they are the "real" Fox team.  with the ravens its weird though i think last year there were only 2 conflicts and pitts was on tv once and bmore was on the other time even though bmore is the "local" team according to the league.  i know the nfl gets an astounding # of complaints from this area if pitts isn't on so i don't know if that affects the tv.

on the fan distribution:

def more Steelers fans around here.  probably 85%-15% Steelers to Eagles.  Right where i am in Carlisle it's way more Steelers but the farther east you get, starting around Hershey the gap closes significantly.
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

I found out a little more. Harrisburg is considered a secondary market for both the Ravens and the Eagles for purely geographic reasons. That means the Eagles and Ravens away games will always be shown... and they are subject to the blackout rules for the home games too.

The Harrisburg FOX channel is totally in the tank for the Eagles and shows the Andy Reid Show and everything. The CBS station basically shows the Steelers game anytime they are contractually allowed because the Steelers market is much bigger than the Ravens market. But technically they are a Ravens station.

If I have the situation right, Week 3 this year CBS will be contractually allowed to show whatever they would like at 1:00, and that will be PIT @ CIN... not CLE @ BAL or KC @ PHI.

Rome

The Steelers have won about 300 Super Bowls, so it's shocking, SHOCKING, I say, that there'd be more Steelers fans in Central PA than Eagles fans.

That's fine.  It's not even Pennsylvania once you drive west of the Northeast Extension anyway.

farg those hicks.

who wants those pennsultucky fargs anyway.

i know 2 people from harrisburgh, 1 likes pitts, 1 like the birds. but non philly people hate philly so of course theyll align with the team that wins/MA team.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

absolutely 100% not...it used to be more taterskin fans than eagle fans till they left...steeler fans dominate eagle fans up there...its not even close...been that way since the 70's...

Dude, you don't live there, how do you know this?

FF, neither do you.

My ex-wife was from Shamokin, about an hour due north up route 11.  I can tell you, from visiting there, if it was Eagles v. Steelers at 1PM, Eagles was blacked out (at least in the 90s).

hahaha, shamokin represent.  stupid farging coal miners and factory workers.

but yeah, that whole part of the start is definitely more pitt than philly.  my mom has been living in danville for the last 15 years and i lived up there for almost 2 years in the late 90's and i was the only eagles fan i knew.

nah, she's quite literally off in her own little world.  she's native american which means she's nuts.  i think i'm just her way of pissing of her dad.  running off with pale face and shagging him on the regular.

Father Demon

Why are you shagging her dad on a regular basis?

Just another way the white man has farged the injuns...
The drawback to marital longevity is your wife always knows when you're really interested in her and when you're just trying to bury it.

Sgt PSN

i love farging with her about it.  seriously, it doesn't get much better than having a full blooded savage curled up on the couch with you while watching lou diamond phillips in young guns.  i actually go out of my way to turn on old episodes of walker texas ranger now because that show often featured some of the worst indian dialogue ever.  and john wayne movies never had as much comedic value to me as they do now.
