You'd have to replace Tra within the next season or two, they didn't 'create' two holes because both players were f/a's.

true as that may be, trading for peters and not offering tra a 2 or 3 year deal falls right in line with this front office refusing to mortage the future on the present.  when this was a young team 7 years ago, i could buy into that philosophy.  but now, after years of coming close, i could give a damn about the next 5, 10 or even 20 years.  i want to see them win and i want to see them win now.

which would you prefer:

the current situation with peters and andrews as bookend tackles.

or

signing andrews, resigning tra and then trading those same draft picks they used on peters for boldin/edwards/ocho?

moves like that just emphasize the writing that's been on the wall for the last couple of years and that is that the eagles organization is not interested in winning championships.  they are not interested in giving mcnabb the best possible tools to be successful.  they are only interested in putting a team on the field that will get into the playoffs more often than not and hope that they make a run ala the 2007 giants.

and don't get me wrong, because i like the peters trade.  but that's only because they had already decided against bringing back tra so this was the next best thing.

They could still get Boldin/Ocho/Edwards if they wanted to.

Clayton on ESPN Radio Saturday said the only reason the Browns have not traded edwards was because the Gints have not commited a #2 and a #5. Geesh if that is all it takes and Boldin is too pricey, pull the trigger fat boy.

Sarge, you don't think the team is young now?  Look at the roster - only McNabb & Westy are left from those  4 straight NFC Champ games.  The team had to get younger and has.  I personally like what FO have done.  They have rebuilt the team and stayed very competitive.  The team is young and good with the only age questions creeping in at RB and QB - which QB was addressed in their eyes with Kolb and RB will be in this years draft.

Draft picks are hit and miss - and Peters is already a hit.  They have a top 10 QB, quality receivers, the best OLine on paper, a dangerous RB (when healthy).  Should mention that the defense is top 10 quality too...

Eagles still in the mix for Boldin?

Anquan Boldin | Cardinals | Interested: Jaguars? Titans? Ravens? Cowboys? Jets? Giants? Eagles?

After a trade on Friday involving one of their first round picks in exchange for a Pro Bowler, the Philadelphia Eagles are not necessarily out of the running to use the other first-rounder to return another Pro Bowler, according to the Phladelphia Inquirer.

In specific terms, this means that there's still a chance that the Eagles will be the team to acquire Anquan Boldin. Last week, the Arizona Cardinals began listening to offers for Boldin, and multiple sources have cited the Eagles as one of the likely destinations along with the New York Jets, New York Giants and Baltimore Ravens. Several other teams could also be interested, although they have not specifically confirmed this interest, and these include the Dallas Cowboys, Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars.

In exchange for Peters, the Eagles gave up the No. 21 overall selection, as well as their fourth round pick. Hypothetically, if they traded away their remaining first round pick (No. 28 overall) and their third round pick - the supposed asking price for Boldin - this would leave them with just one pick in the draft's first four rounds, and they would not select another player until No. 141 overall. On the other hand, they do have four picks in the fifth round, two in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Regarding trading away his remaining first round pick, Eagles president Joe Banner told the Inquirer, "There are teams that start the year with only one first round draft pick and they've traded them. If we made another trade with a first round draft pick, we'd just be in the same position as them. I think we'll do whatever we evaluate to be the best move with any of the available players . . . Some of the evaluation is about the quality of what we have at certain positions."
