yeah, i really want to read the book now
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

MDS

yea the book was terrific. im the furthest thing from an outdoorsman but it was still off the charts.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

"The Promotion" (Seann William Scott, John C. Reilly) = worth checking out if you're a fan of either actor but there's nothing special about it

Sgt PSN

other that 8 years, what's the difference between the new vin diesel movie "fast & furious" and the old vin diesel movie "the fast & the furious"

BigEd76

Real answer: Paul was an undercover cop trying to arrest Vin in the 1st one, and the two are working together in this one

CF answer: nothing. That movie is for Asians that spend thousands on their Honda Civics. Die.

Let The Right One In: 4.5/5

I usually avoid Vampire related movies but this was one was acclaimed so i got it on the cheap...very well made movie about a 12 yr old boy who befriends a Vampire. Its basically what Twilight wishes it was but much better, darker, and realistic in terms of a of a relationship. Its also very twisted once you realize whats going on at the end.

Best movie of 2008 IMO. Did you read any of the book by any chance? They explain a few things that were kinda left up in the air. Some of it really interesting.

No I did not read the book but heard from ppl who did that

*********SPOILERS*****************

Eli is a male vampire. Haken was the previous caretaker who possibly was a pedo who was attracted to Eli's human form which is of a young female. Eli does fall in love with Oskar but its also because she/he needs a new caretaker. The shot of Eli's genitals near the end is supposed to show that HE had been castrated.

But from simply watching the movie I came away with none of that cept that Eli simply meant shes not human whenever she said "I am not a girl" and also referred to her age being in the 100s or something. The fact she uses rope as a belt hints also at her age. I also realized Haken was the previous caretaker.

The ppl who read the book seem to say there is a lot more manipulation on Eli's part towards Oskar than love. In the movie it comes across as they both love and care for each other. The little touches where Eli eats the candy even though it makes her hurl. Or when she asks him if she still smells after Oskar comments that she smells funny. Or when she asks him to invite her in so she can properly come in. Or ther end when she comes back to rescue him after actually leaving.

Either way great movie.

Some day, I'd like to farg up a good premise by adding unnecessarily annoying skanks  to each film, and maybe ignore the laws of physics every now and then. 2/5

Halloween (Rob Zombified version)

When I'm ruining a good premise by adding annoying skanks to a movie, I think I'll give Mrs Zombie a call. Always go with a pro, unless you're looking for a camera man with a steady hand. Michael J Fox did a horrible job there. :crazy 2/5

****SPOILERS*****

I don't think he was a pedophile though. I just think he met Eli around when he was the same age as Oskar. He grew to love her as Oskar did. But the part about her using Oskar has some merit, because after all you see how much she treated Haken like trash. Yelling at him all the time. I'm guessing at one point she was really nice to him. But then again, she could've just been into Oskar and she ignorantly forgot what Haken has done for her.

I think with the genital part, that Eli was a boy before turning into a vampire. Either that or Eli was a hermaphrodite. But either way, I think the castration came before she was infected and then once she became a vampire she turned into possibly her own sex in a way.

Not having read the book, the movie does leave a lot up to interpretation. Haken could have been her caretaker since he was Oskar's age or he could have been some old dude who is into young girls so she lured him in that way. Only reason I even bring that up is because even before he messes up completely he was sort of sloppy with getting the blood. The guy he cuts in the forest...he had to run away before he could get the blood. So if he has been doing this for Eli since he was a boy you would think he would be a lot better at it. Either way she has had many caretakers before since her age is hinted to be well over 100.

Eli might have needed a new caretaker true, but she started falling for Oskar from before Haken makes his fatal mistake and is out of the picture. So either she loved Haken and didn't now or that was just total manipulation...I dont know. I do think the movie went out of its way to show a real connection between Oskar and Eli to highlight that its not manipulation. I guess Ill read the book someday to figure it out. The whole gender issue never even crossed my mind watching the movie. It was only until someone who read the book suggested it that I thought about it.

I am not to upto date with the Vampire lore so I did not understand the significance of the title of the movie and how it tied in with the scene where she asks him to invite her in otherwise she can not come in. On the subject of the lore..are Vampires not supposed to be able to eat regular food? She throws up from the candy almost right away.

Not sure about the regular food thing. I just assumed it was their own personal touch on the movie/book.
