Dawk is making 7.5 this season....

youre counting sb money...6+ mil is the average base salary of the top 5 safties...if you include bonus and guaranteed money its much higher

And Runyan was playing through an injury that limited him....and just about everyone knew it.  Tra didn't give up that many sacks since McNabb is one of the best at moving in the pocket...but I think McNabb got more pressure from that side of the line then anywhere else.  I'd love to see the numbers of what side of the line gave up more "hurries", along with the sack numbers.

Tra played fine last season.

What I don't get is why not re-sign the guy and let him know it's his job to lose. Draft or try Herremans/Andrews out at LT and go from there. Would it really hurt to have a veteran T on the squad? Cap money isn't the issue because I doubt the Jags broke the bank for him.

there is no logical reason...the more i think about it the more i wonder if jeffeee is getting his ass eaten by the stock market...he was never a very rich owner even in the good times

But you couldn't sign Tra to a deal that would allow him to "sit" if he lost the job.  That's one trend in the NFL that is going to come up in the CBA (rookie contract caps).  Veterans, like Tra, are losing roster spots since so much money is being invested in draft picks, much of which never pain out.  Because of that, teams look for cheaper or younger alternatives with possible more upside.

Point is, it would have been hard to bring Tra back at a number that he was comfortable with, and one that would have allowed it to be a truely "open" competition.

He bought the team for $175 million, they're worth close to or over $1 billion now, he has a huge asset and multiple streams of money so it shouldn't be an issue...maybe he got ponzi schemed too.

General_Failure

Maybe he should make another movie. I hear comic book movies are popular these days. I wonder if there's any players on the team that like comic books, they could totally have that player in a buddy action movie.

Lurie's losing their ass with Uncle Bernie? I could totally see that, but it probably would have been out by now if it was substantial...

there already is a rookie salary cap...the eagles are 40 mil under the cap the % of that going to rookies still leaves them with a ton of money...now im not saying they absolutely should have signed both but theres not even close to a valid reason why they couldnt have signed dawk and tra money wise

and why couldnt have tra come back and lost his job?...eagles have never been shy about benching people who they say cant play regardless of experience or money...if tra doesnt win a job in camp do the eagle shave to pay him extra?...

also its not as if the eagles have some solid plan b for tra...i mean where is his stiff competition for his spot were he to have come back

So with Dawk and Tra gone this is officially Andy's team.  Amazing to think how much of Reids early success should be credited to Ray Rhodes; Dawk, Tra, Vincent, Taylor, Duce, Trotter, Hugh, Mayberry, Ike.  Now, the last pillars that Rhodes set in place are gone.

Anyone taking over/unders on how soon this team totally down the shteinter and Reid retires/gets fired?

I will say 3 more seasons and take the under.
I believe I've passed the age of consciousness and righteous rage
I found that just surviving was a noble fight.
I once believed in causes too,
I had my pointless point of view,
And life went on no matter who was wrong or right.

excellent point...one i was making even in 2004 when there wasnt a single voice criticizing big red and everyone was calling him a genius..but the better question might be what happens when mcnabb is gone...granted andy gets big credit for taking donovan but it will be interesting to see how having one of the better qb's in the league has kept his team afloat in a horrible conference

While I highly doubt that Lurie's cash flow is the reason they didn't re-sign Tra Thomas, keep in mind that the value of the team is meaningless unless he takes a loan out on it or sells off ownership shares.

SunMo

he hasn't done shtein the past 2 years and hasn't had much of a career to speak of and you can't believe he hasn't signed yet?

McNabb is gone. This season is just a formality.
