Good call, Eagles.

They're chock full o' good personnel decisions lately.

Idiots

I heard somewhere that Tra's play had actually declined and that the Eagles were chipping with backs and/or using a lot of TEs on his side of the line to not leave him 1-on-1.  It seemed to me that the majorirty of non-coverage sacks came from the left side and i can remember quite a few that Tra just got ran around or "blocked down" allowing a free rush.  If you think about it, most runs where to the right....away from Tra and towards Runyan who could really only move one way due to his "bum" bum.  To me, that kind of says something...

Everyone seems to be complaining about them letting this vet go and that vet go.  And don't get me wrong, Dawkins is my favorite Eagle of all time and he's the one I'm most upset about.  I wish he would have retired a bird and played his whole career with them.  But bith that said, play does start to decline when you get to a certain age.  It's just that the Eagles are replacing 3 starting veterans in one off-season, which isn't the norm or something we're used to. Dawk went for the $$$, and you can't blame him.  That's what makes the FO a target.  Yet I don't think anyone would have made him the highest paid safety in the league and I wouldn't have resigned him for what he got.  No one knows the "true" story about the back and forth between the Eagles FO and Dawkins' agent.  People lie and I think in this case, that was done on both sides.  It's just like when the Sixers traded away Chuck for a few trash cans...the fans lose and it's easier to blame the FO and the money people then the player.  Just like I cheered for the Suns back then, I'll be cheering for Denver now expect when they play the Birds.  I'm preparted to get blasted, but you have to think that people who study game tape and develop the schemes know more about player performance then what the FOX cameramen show us.

Manneans has played well at LT when Tra was out with his back, and I think Shawn will be back to playing at a pro-bowl level.  I'm holding out my bitching until the draft and they trade both 1st round picks away....I personally want to see them get Pettigrew and a RB with those first 2 picks...and then go OL & CB/S with the rest of your picks.

Shawn Andrews has obviously been told that they would like him to play LT.  Stacy Andrews is obviously in at RT.  Herremans and Jackson will stay put, and MJG and Cole will have a scintillating camp battle for the RG spot.

i personally would have resigned tra because with the money they have and the money he required it was a no lose situation...however im not going to lose sleep over the FO not retaining him or bash them for it...but....rather than "hear" whether he played well last year or not you might wanna kinda actually watch the games and you would have saw that he has a very good year

as for dawk being the highest paid safety...thats not true either...he wont even make the franchise number for safties much less be the highest paid in the league

Not that the franchise number for safeties comes close to the money paid to some other positions.

wrong--Dawkins got offered 7.5 million which is more than 20 percent above the average of the five highest paid safeties in the NFL

mikey418

IGY - I did watch the games and did see Tra get beat....more than the rest of the line. I remember him blocking down quite a few times and letting the end go free or him just getting ran around.

my bad but you said you "heard" he didnt have that good of a year as if you werent sure or didnt watch

anyway i respectively disagree then...did he give up a couple sacks sure but he overall played very well...better than runyan imo (at pass protection)...tra has never been a good run blocker
