He must have assumed you'd already seen Paul Blart: Mall Cop.

maybe im old school but am i the only one that doesnt get how cgi can look great...ill take the cinematography in a thin red line or legends of the fall over 300 or sin city anyday

Based on your apparent taste in movies I'd say it has less to do with the special effect methods and more to do with the subject matter.

Watchmen. So I read the book and enjoyed it thoroughly but wouldn't call myself a fanboy. The book was interesting and enjoyable and different but nothing life-altering or inspiring enough to go crazy about. From what I can tell, it seems that this movie is suffering in its reviews in two ways:
1. Fanboys get upset about the changes from the book.
2. Non-fanboys have been told that the book was amazing (or something more than just your run of the mill graphic novel) and don't see what all of the fuss is about.

As something in between fanboy and normal human being, I really enjoyed it. The actress who played Silk Spectre was awful, but spent a decent amount of time naked, so we'll call it a wash. Rorshach and Dr. Manhattan were great and everyone else was good enough. It was enjoyable and a very respectable reproduction of the source material. My only gripe was that the end, and a lot of the morality involved, was rushed and came across as shallow, but adding 15 minutes of dialog to the movie wouldn't have worked so I'll let that slide.

Also, the change to the climax was good. Actually made more sense than the original.

Also watched the remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers with Donald Sutherland. It was silly but there was a style of film-making for horror movies in the 70s that was incredibly effective at building suspense and this movie was no exception. Mediocre acting. Mediocre story. Good suspense. I enjoyed it.

Malin Akerman.  And Im thrilled to hear she is keeping up her streak of getting naked for our enjoyment.  (Harold and Kumar, The Heartbreak kid)

My Name Is Bruce - Good if you're after a Bruce Campbell movie to watch, bad if you don't like cheese for some reason.

Watchmen was ok.   I enjoyed the book but so many little details were left out it added up eventually.  If I hadn't known the story going in, I'm not sure it even would have been moderately enjoyable.

Watchmen - really liked it, pretty much mirror rjs' thoughts...it was long, and slow at points, but that was necessary to do the material justice.

Wrestler - good movie, way overhyped.  Rouke was good, not but oscar-worthy like people have said.

30 Days of Night  7/10 pretty good Vampire flick set in Alaska.  The premise is the town is cutoff from society by where they live, and that they are entering 30 days of no sun.  Negatives Josh Hartnett.  Positives beartraps, trencher's cutting up stuff, shotgun blasts to the dome, a ton of violence

secret life of bees - pretty awful...whos brilliant idea was it to cast three singers in the movie...goes without saying that the acting was hideous...writing almost as bad...the producer of this movie should never work again

2/10

I'm pretty excited to see the watchmen. ive read the book. none of you touched on the music in the movie. i have a buddy who said the music was way off and almost ruined it for him. just said the selection was really weird. anyone else notice music being off?

People have made too much of the soundtrack but yeah, it was pretty bad.
