what don't you understand. oil = no future.  alternative fuels = future. the sooner we stop relying on oil the better. something can replace it and it will make them just as rich

then you would want them to "re-invent the wheel"

what I meant by that was not putting money into the wheel (oil) but to put it into programs that lean to alternative methods

Maybe the government never should have started subsidizing monopolistic companies that refused to modernize their product for the better part of a decade while the rest of the world moved forward with new technologies to improve their brands. Maybe they should have encouraged new companies to enter the fold rather than propping up three montrosities that had out-run their usefulness. Maybe then we wouldn't have to decide between 2 million out of work employees and $50 billion in tax payer's money.

I've been listening to NPR's coverage of the auto show.  They're at such pains to be percieved as fair that it drives me nuts.  They interview these guys and lob softball questions at them as lead-ins so the guys can claim patently untrue crap like, our cars are just as good as japanese cars.

Bullshtein.  American cars suck and have for decades.

we've seen the gas + electric, but next year youre going to see the mass production of all battery cars

its going to be strange one day when all of us are saying, "damn Im out of power..need to go the power station."

rjs246

It won't really be that strange.

It'll only be strange when I travel forward in time and check out 2015.  I can't wait for the Skyway and using your thumbprint for everything.

Phanatic

I'm not sold on the gas electric idea yet.

Why wouldn't I just plug it in at home instead of going to the power station?
