Dangest?  Someone's been hanging around Reid too much.

He probably says, "Oh, fiddlesticks!" when he misses.

This is the most recent Akers thread I could find, might be time to update the title.

He put up a solid year.  3rd in the league for FGs made.  82% made on 40 attempts.  Only Gotkowski had as many attempts (nailing 90% them).  He was sixth in the league for touchbacks, 12th for average yards. His game is much improved in every way.  Kickoffs, accuracy, etc.

After yesterday, Akers now holds the NFL record for consecutive FGs made in the playoffs (18), surpassing the previous streak of 16 held by Gary Anderson.

And once again, he had to prove that if you're an NFL team in the unfortunate position of needing your kicker to make a TD saving tackle, Akers is your man.

He's still not what he once was--great--but he's been an asset this year.  I had thought he was done for a while there, but now I'm come around and I want to see him kicking for the Eagles again next year.

I'm not sure about next year, but he's on a good run now and should be ridden like a trick pony until proven otherwise.

No doubt Akers has turned himself around, along with the rest of the team, since early in the season.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

1) you could of easily just made a new thread bud...because his play as of late might deserve one
2) I agree with you

I didn't want to bother brother vigy with a 'new thread' email.  I'm sure he's grateful for it.

I'm very glad Akers got his shtein together. Its nice to get to stop ragging on players for sucking once in a while, and you really couldn't ask for more from the guy.

Yeah, that really is a breath of fresh air (this coming from me who wondered if Dawkins was done 2 years ago). Anyway, I really, really think Akers had a problem adjusting to his new snapper/holder combination. He really wasn't that good before that group got together. He seems to be a bit of a head case and I really think that may have affected him. The Eagles did have "the best holder in the NFL" for a long time.

Your serious post quota for 2009 has now been fulfilled.

I was afraid that Akers, like a golfer or like The Idiot Kicker, had lost his swing and would never be able to regain it. He was bad at the end of last year and early this year.

The thing to note about this year though is that since he dropped weight his leg has been stronger. I noticed that on his kickoffs even in the PS. He had a lot more touchbacks this year.

He is really driving the ball with power now, even on his FGs. They are missiles. I again have confidence in him kicking. I'm sure he's happy that he's regained my trust.
