Book was pre-1960. Movie was definitely after that.

Either way, the currently ruling party accidentally referencing The Ministry of Truth, especially after the last eight years of steady movement towards police state is rather hilarious.

There are two movies actually. One made in 1956 and one made in 1984.... but the second point is most important.
