The post primary polls are starting to show a ~ 5% bump in the states that have polled.  Recent polls have Obama leading McCain in states worth 304 electoral votes.  This has the Dems picking up 5 states over the Kerry loss, while losing none.
An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

There's too many polls done on this election.  Almost like the Media is trying to create a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Polls aren't even needed.  Just watch McCain's speech from last Tuesday night, and it's absolutely clear that he has no chance to beat Obama.

Obama:  Wife Never Used "Whitey"

Couple of thoughts:

1.  Seems like a silly argument, but American political campaigns are usually full of them - and moreso in the age of internet and 24-hour news.

2.  That said, Obama better pray that evidence doesn't surface that shows her saying it.  Again. a stupid thing to torpedo a campaign, but in modern politics, more stupid things have taken center stage.

At this point, I'm not sure even that would have the same repurcussions.  In fact, hasn't McCain already been in controversy for some off-color, un-PC speech?

My point with Obama is that he's come out and categorically denied her ever making the comment.  If evidence were to come out (especially on Youtube or such) that she did, I think it could cause a lot of damage to his campaign.

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

the point is a video of either one coming out with them saying or doing something horrible would be bad but we dont talk about it as if it is coming out do we?

just because rush limbaugh and the pathetic right wing attack machine makes up a story doesnt make it real...im curious as to why you would say "if this comes out"...where is even the smallest bit of evidence that it exists?

basically what youre saying is if a hypothetical video of michelle obama hypothetically saying something bad came out after they hypothetically denied such a video existed it would be worse than if a hypothetical video of john mccain came out that he hypothetically didnt first deny existed?

You love splitting hairs, don't you?

Yes.  I'm saying that Obama would have been better served to completely ignore this.  By issuing a statement denying that she never said it, he only continues the discussion of the issue, and opens himself up to some serious damage in his perception if, somehow, evidence turns up that she, indeed, did say something.  And, in the modern media with everyone having a cell phone that can take video and upload to youtube, he'd better be damn sure that she didn't say it.

And don't forget my point #1.  This isn't about my view of Obama - my perception won't change based on what his wife says or doesn't say. It about my view of the American political culture, the ignorance of most Americans about politcs, and my complete disregard of the modern American media.

It's okay for Fox to call Michelle "Obama's baby mama," but not okay for her to say "whitey?"

God damn America

and yes, I'd so hit it
