Part 1

Part 2

Part 2 is a better read.

I know half the people in this story, including the main subject.  He was always running around Savvis when I worked there, all full of energy and (apparently) coke.  I didn't know about the extra-curricular stuff, though.  I worked directly for Zimmerman (quoted in the story), and hated every ounce of him.  And there were a whole lot of ounces to hate.

This is a great read about what happens to fortune-heirs when all they know how to do is be a fleshpop.  Hopefully, this will eventually be a 'Good riddance' story.

I wish I could add this ass to my ghoulpool list.

What comes around does truly go around...

Those pictures are in reverse order.  The second, which is really the first, shows her when she was starting out and just getting recognition.

The first, which is really the second, is after she got hooked on the rock and heroin.

I know way too much about this bitch.

After 13 months in Australia on a visitor's visa, the governemtn there decided I'd stayed long enough. I had to be out by February 15th. They let me know this three weeks before their deadline. I had to scramble to get the cash together to fly back to the US. As the cheapest flights are always on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I opted to go with the Tuesday trip. Didn't seem like a good idea to spend Valentine's Day at the airport saying goodbye.

First leg of my trip was from Bisbane to Sydney, for some reason. I have no idea why, but it did. There were two screaming babies on this flight. I slept through it. Two hours of layover there before heading off to Honolulu, this time with four screaming babies to sleep through. I spent 11 hours waiting for my next flight at the airport because I had no money left to go anywhere. Used up a good portion of my phone charge here letting people know I was alright, since I didn't have much in the way of layovers after that. The next leg of the trip was from Honolulu to Kona, a mere 45 minutes away, this time with three screaming babies. Not enough time to sleep, I'm afraid.

It was only an hour long layover. I don't know if anyone else has had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful airport, but its all open air. The ticket counters, gates, and waiting areas consist of huts and benches. The incoming flight board was a TV that came from Best Buy. The PA system came out of someone's Yugo. The Best Buy flight board was kind enough to tell me that my flight to Phoenix would be leaving at gate 7. The PA announcer also said gate 7. My ticket said nothing. So I head over to gate 7, they tell me they're handling another airline's flight at the moment. So I wait around until the PA calls my name to head over to, again, gate 7. I head back to gate 7, and this time they inform me that I'm actually supposed to be at gate 3, which is in a hut way down the street.

I run out to gate 3, clearly the last person coming through, and security tells me they've already closed the door on the plane. I try to get through the whole security scan as quickly as possible, but it wasn't fast enough. I get there just as the plane is pulling away.

At any decent airport, I could simply head to the ticket counter and get on the next flight. Not at this airport, it seems. The ticket counter only has working hours from 7pm to 9pm. My plane took off at 9:30. So, having no money left on me for a hotel room, I get the honor of staying at the airport bus depot for the evening. The guards let me know I'd be thrown out if I step foot off that area. There's a water fountain and a bathroom there, so at least those needs are taken care of. After spending all of my Honolulu layover on the phone, the phone is nearly dead. I risk one call on it to let somebody know that I've missed my flight. For the rest of the 22 hours I'm there, I turn on my laptop to check the time and turn it off again.

I think it's safe to say I'm going to remember that day for a long, long time. Luckily, someone came along who was also stuck there for the night, as his flight was leaving early in the morning. We discussed politics for for 9 hours until his flight was ready. So thanks to him, I didn't have to spend much time thinking about this zesty little airport, having to get my ticket sorted out, them telling me I'm going to have to buy a new ticket that I can't afford, not being able to contact my fiancee, and spending Valentine's day sitting on an abandonded farging bus terminal bench in the middle of nowhere with no way home.

After that, the rest of the trip was easy. The ticket counter eventually opened. The lady behind the counter got me on the flight to Phoenix leaving in an hour. Slept through that flight and the mere two screaming babies. Had something to eat in the Phoenix airport. Caught my connection to Philly, which had no screaming babies for some reason, picked up the bags that arrived the night before, and left. I finally turned my phone on again, and it died within two minutes.

When I have the money together to go back on the proper visa, I'm avoiding little shtein airports like that, cost be damned. I've spent my share of nights at the airport, but that was the worst.

So, is said girl still down under?

Girl is still is Brisbane, and will probably not be coming to the US any time soon. If we had the money for that, it would be better spent getting me back there.

I love Kona airport.  Very quaint, beautiful, and inviting.  Great breezes, and the scenery is almost surreal.

Of course, I never had to be derelict there, either.  I could see where that might spoil some of the fun.
