He's no different than any other huckster, that's true, but better a huckster selling tolerance than bigotry, no?

One thing I like about the Jerry Falwells, Osama bin Ladins, and Ted Haggarts of the world is, you know who you're dealing with.  It's kinda like the kkk...the hats and dixie flags make them easy to identify..I prefer they don't start polishing their nails and driving Audis, lest we lose track of 'em.

This guy is more like them than he is like me, it's just harder to tell because he doesn't spit bile everywhere.

A healthy take on Christianity and religion in general. And only several centuries late.

God and religion still aren't for me, but this type of attitude would make religion and the religious far less repugnant to the people who can't stand them.

Well said.  It sounds like this guy has managed to put down on paper the reasons my wife and I don't go to church.  The self-righteous, ritualistic, and obnoxious way most people practice Christianity is extremely divisive.

Agreed.  My beef isn't even with god which is why I've taken on more of an agnostic view of things rather than become a full fledged athiest.  I'm pretty much against just about every religious doctrine out there though and all of their rules on how to live and them wanting my money.  And Christianity is a joke imo.  Sorry but Jesus is the biggest folk hero in the history of the world.  I have almost no doubt that he existed.  But the stories of his exploits were blown way out of proportion.  He's Paul Bunyon in sandals.  I'm not familiar enough with other religions to know about their cast of characters but I'm sure it's pretty much the same across the board.

I just look at it like Greek Mythology with Zeus and Hera and Aphrodite and Apollo and all them.  At one point they were worshipped as real gods.  Now everyone knows they're fake.  Once the cover is blown on Christianity look for Kevin Sorbo to make his return to television in the weekly television series "Jesus."

One other thing......I'm open to the idea that there could be some sort of "higher power" out there somewhere.  But I don't think "he" has any influence on my life.  I'm just not going to live my life worshipping "him" so my spirit can play with Trolley and King Friday in the neighborhood of make-believe when I finally kick the bucket.

Sarge is a full-fledged member of the WBC.

???

They're based in Kansas, as per their flyer.  The zip code, not coincidentally, has "666" in it.

I particularly liked this line, and I thought you should know.

Ok.  Still don't know who they are though or what WBC stands for?  World something Christian?  I dunno.

i can't believe with all the soldiers' funerals they've picketed, nobody has taken them out yet

When I get back to the States I am considering using my knowledge of IEDs to take them out.  Instead of using ball bearings and nails to take them out, I will use anal beads, dildos, and gerbils.

BBC did a documentary of them. It's pretty freaky, they are basically like a inbreading cult. It's 50 some people, all but 10 of whom are Phelps'. Most of what they do is for attention. So just bringing them up and talking about them, even if it is fantasies about murdering them, is actually what they want.

Anyway, back to TV. 23 million people watched Moment of Truth last night. I assume Easy was one of them. It's pretty much the trashiest, lowest-common-denominator show Fox has ever put out. And that's really saying something. This country is full of farging morons.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.
