The "text message" slang writing angers me to no end. That is one of the reasons why I hate text messages. When I see the "u, ur, omg, lol, str8t" shtein I want to fight people. One of my boys at work is a text-message/myspaceaholic and he types like that when he's hitting on 18 year old chicks. I punch him daily. Left a nice bruise on his arm yesterday.

The way you say that makes the rest of us that hit on 18 year old girls look bad.

Ha! But this dude is 28 and that's all he goes for...the fresh outta high schoolers who have the maturity level of a gnat. His specialty lately is getting myspace chicks who are addicted to crack and other various illegal substances.

mussa

you say that like there is something wrong with that?

My mom's been visiting with me for the last 2 weeks while my daughters are here and her dog's been pretty sick for the last month or so and we finally had to put her down today.  She was 15. :(
Although you probably didn't enjoy the last month knowing that you'd have to put her down, atleast it wasn't unexpected. I've told a bunch of stories here about the dog I had that I needed to put down in November. He only walked on one back leg (other leg was struck with cancer really bad, huge tumor) and always hopped around. In early August or so the vet said he had 2 weeks to 2 months to live, and about 4 months went by and it seemed that he wasn't getting any worse. Except he got so weak, that one day the back leg he walked on just gave out and got completely dislocated. It was a Sunday too, so no vets were open except one about a half hour away and seeing that dog just crawl on his front legs crying and whining his ass off trying to walk for over an hour was one of the worst experiences of my life.

Luckily she wasn't in any pain and there's an animal hospital about 2 miles away from my house.  We were hoping that she'd make it through the summer and wouldn't have to put her down until after my kids went home but she took a real bad turn for the worse over the weekend.  She had a "stroke" a few months ago and hasn't had the same personality since but was otherwise in pretty good health.  Then over the last month or so before my mom came down to visit she said that the dog would lose her balance when walking and get disoriented.  But she still seemed mostly ok, maintained her appetite and all that.  But then over the weekend she wasn't able to sit or lay down on her own without falling and she couldn't get up.  I'd have to pick her up and carry her off the steps of my deck and put her in the yard to go to the bathroom and let her walk around a little and then carry her back up the steps again.

Finally this morning while I was at work my mom called me and told me it was time to put her down because she couldn't even walk.  It was hard because she didn't have any apparent illness attacking her vital organs or anything.  She was just old and senile.  Sitting my kids down and telling them wasn't a walk in the park either.

Same thing happened to my mutt last year. We even went so far as to build her a ramp to get in and outside, but she fell off it the first and only time she tried it, so she got carried up and down the steps until she was put down.

I hate most people, but there's a soft spot in my heart for dogs. We had a golden lab named Max when I was growing up, roughly 4-5 years ago he had cancer and was in awful shape, so my Mom had him put to sleep.

I'm with you about the people versus dogs thing. Dogs, unless people farg them up, are pretty much unconditionally friendly and nice. And unless they're trying to get more treats, they have no ulterior motives.

My family dog died during my first semester away at college, and I was quite upset when I read the letter my mother sent, describing the whole process.

Found out yesterday that my uncle, who I thought was just a boring grumpy old alcoholic hippy, actually spent a few months babysitting Hunter S Thompson for the Village Voice after college. Apparently it was well known that he couldn't handle his drugs and therefore shied away from them in favor of alcohol, so the VV basically paid him to follow HST around and make sure that he didn't kill himself or someone else and ensure that he was actually writing his pieces.

I'm almost 30 years old and JUST found out that a close family member actually knew one of my most favorite American writers/icons. Incredible.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?
