Why does Johson tilt the ball one XPs and Figgies?

All holders tilt the ball, according to how the kicker wants it, which depends on distance and conditions.

Purely guessing here but I would imagine that the closer you are to the goal posts, the more likely you would see the holder tilt the ball back to allow the kicker get under the ball for more elevation which reduced the possibility of getting it blocked.  The further away you are, the less you tilt the ball.
