Terrorists stole my toothpaste.

Lost story short.....

Went through security at the airport today and I had all my hygene stuff in my carry on......toothpaste, shaving creme, toothbrush etc. Security confiscated my toothpaste, shaving creme and eye drops for my contacts.

Farging nazis.

You're a moron. There are big signs all over the airport about not being allowed to carry that kind of stuff right now.

First time I've flown since this new policy was put in effect.  Besides, the only signs I saw said "No liquid"  not "No toothpaste."

No.  It's my right and freedom to be oblivious to everything if I so choose. 

Besides, I'm pretty much over it now.  It was just annoying as hell yesterday when it happened and I was tired and cranky when I got to my hotel last night.  Had I flown anywhere right after it happened I would have been a little more conscious of it.  But the thing that really pissed me off more than anything was that they took my eye drops for my contacts.  I even offered to put a couple drops in my eyes to show that it was not a threat to safety but no luck there. 

So my choices now are either fly without the stuff and just buy it and leave it or I could check my bags and deal with the hell known as the baggage claim.

Why is profiling wrong when its right most of the time?

a.) it\\\'s morally wrong.
It\\\'s immoral.  Read some Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, MLK, Weisel for a refresher on racial prejudice and its consequences.  It violates the most basic morals of our society.  Read some Federalist Papers for a refresher on individual rights and liberties. Why are these historical figures more correct or ethical than todays figures? Ever read any of Franklins thoughts on Jews? Anti-semitism was considered progressive thought in the 17 and 1800s

b.) it\\\'s dangerous
It sets a precedent for further violation of human rights.  Read some Orwell, some basic history for a refresher on what happens when governments isolate particular race(s) as being more dangerous than others and subjects them to seperate and unequal treatment.  It don\\\'t end well. [1984 was a work in fiction![/b]

TrollJoel, WH scumbag George \\\"The Devil\\\" Bush, and the rest of their whacked-out conservative buddies are eager to sacrifice liberty and individual rights for \\\"security,\\\" but so were the Germans in Nazi germany.   They\\\'ll re-assure you in Rumsfield-esque, smooth-voiced, authoritative tones that profiling can work for security purposes.  They lie so nice.  And they know that so long as it\\\'s not YOU being profiled, it sounds great to most people.  \\\"Security AND convenience?  Sign me up,\\\" says Joe Blow white boy, jew boy, etc.  So first you profile Arabs.  Then you have to widen the net because there are plenty of extremist muslims in Asia.  But then someone points out that lots of blacks are muslim.  Louis Farrakhan, right?? HELL YES Maybe we should subject all black people to more scrutiny as a result...etc.

A moral, ethical nation will never embark down the slippery slope of racial profiling for \\\"security.\\\"  We should know better in the U.S. than to try it.

c.) it\\\'s ineffective

Profiling is not \\\"right most of the time.\\\"  There are plenty of examples of terrorism/terrorists that profiling would not have stopped, and of innocent people who were stopped on account of race

internment camps for Japanese Americans during WWII.  That worked out great, didn\\\'t it?? Evidently, as exactly zero acts of terrorism were committed by those who were interred! But rally there is no way to judge whether or not this was successful.
